His Hollywood family is worth nearly $500 million but the troubled homeless stepson of Barbra Streisand whiles away his days sitting on benches and rummaging through public trash cans.
Jess Brolin, son of actor James Brolin and brother to Josh, was recently photographed picking through garbage where he lives in Ojai, California.
After losing his $800 per month apartment in 2011, the 41-year-old now lives on the streets and sleeps in vacant lots not 80 miles from his millionaire showbiz family's home.

Well...if he blew his money...
That is awful. He must be mentally ill and/or on drugs.
My heart goes out to them, this is the worst thing to deal with.
Sounds like Madonna’s homeless brother.
Sad, but some people simply cannot be helped. I would not rush to judge the parents, no matter who those parents may be.
Nobody knows how much was spent on trying to help him...with no results.
My first thought is that there must be a whole lot of edible trash in Ojai, because that guy is packing on the pounds.
No wonder Babs was such a supporter of Obamacare. It looks like her homeless step-son has a serious case of cellulitis in both lower legs and she must not be able to afford a doctor for him.
Looks like he finds plenty of food.
You’re not kidding. No doubt mental illness plays a role too.
He is waiting for an apple core to hit the ground
California mental health law in glorious relief. If your adult child is unwilling to live with you, or impossible to live with, due to his mental illness or substance abuse, but is not actively violent to others or himself, this is what you get. On the street until he does something to get himself arrested or hospitalized — and usually out back on the streets a few days thereafter. Even if you’re willing to provide him with supportive housing or even pay for in-patient hospitalization, no dice if he says “no thanks.”
I had a friend that we just couldn’t get off the streets, he seemed normal, got money from his family when he needed a doctor or dentist, he dressed well, read books, atr in cafes, rode his bike and jogged, was tall and good looking.
He was a center of attention at the happy hours with his charm and intelligence, and had dabbled in acting a little bit over the years, he really knew his politics, but at night he slept in the alleys or in a closed shop that a friend of his owned, and who sometimes gave him work.
I knew him for 30 years and when he died he had close to a million dollars from inheritance that his family had been slowly doling out to him, his life revolved around the good cheer and stimulating company of the happy hours and evenings in nice bars and restaraunts, I never did figure him out, but he died suddenly and in what looked like his large, physically robust and healthy late 50s.
Madonna treated her brother like CRAP.
I saw a show where he did some remodeling for her- she refused to pay him because he charged too much.
If I had millions I would tell my brothers and sisters to work for me and I would pay them double, instead she refused to pay.
Then, when she wanted him to come to France for one of her events, she bought his ticket and told him that was his payment. He told her he didn’t need a ticket to France, he needed money to pay his bills... I don’t know if she ever paid him.
I also have an idiot brother I would not give a dime to, but this guy didn’t look like he deserved that treatment.
If I was rich none of my family would live in poverty...
More likely that he wasn’t willing to abide by their rules.
Most of this traces back to JFK and his emptying of the mental hospitals.
It took a while for the lawsuits and lawyers to get them out, and be able to keep them on the streets, but they got there, and it gave us this urban homelessness and the situation of our kids and wives having to interact with the anonymous, and unknown homeless men with mental problems that in the public space.
It’s been my experience that if one person isn’t willing to provide an ounce of help to their needy sibling, it’s because that needy sibling did something to the other that the other isn’t over.
Streisand is a liberal. They believe the poor and hungry should be the responsibility of government. The taxpayers need to step up and take care of her step son.
