Is Ebola about to go wild?
Legal Insurrection ^ | October 12, 2014 | Professor William A. Jacobson

The protocol “works” in Dallas, but health worker “breaches protocol” and contracts disease.

No, of course not, because we have it under control.

Oh, wait, ‘Heroic’ Health Worker Becomes Second U.S. Ebola Case:

"A Texas health care worker who cared for Liberian Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan at a Dallas hospital has tested positive for the disease, hospital officials said Sunday. The worker became infected despite wearing full protective gear while treating Duncan, who later died from the disease, during his second visit to the hospital.

If the preliminary diagnosis is confirmed by the Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, it would be the first known case of the disease being contracted or transmitted in the U.S."

“That health care worker is a heroic person who provided care to Mr. Duncan,” Dallas Judge Clay Jenkin said at a news conference Sunday morning....

I don’t know about going wild but I think we’re going to start seeing a lot more cases in the next week or two.

If another Dallas health worker gets it, I think the whole “the protocol works” idea goes right out the window.

I think many of those “oh, it’s nothing, false alarm” incidents were actually Ebola or something similar.

The POTUS has spoke

irst and foremost, I want the American people to know that our experts, here at the CDC and across our government, agree that the chances of an Ebola outbreak here in the United States are extremely low. We’ve been taking the necessary precautions, including working with countries in West Africa to increase screening at airports so that someone with the virus doesn’t get on a plane for the United States. In the unlikely event that someone with Ebola does reach our shores, we’ve taken new measures so that we’re prepared here at home. We’re working to help flight crews identify people who are sick, and more labs across our country now have the capacity to quickly test for the virus. We’re working with hospitals to make sure that they are prepared, and to ensure that our doctors, our nurses and our medical staff are trained, are ready, and are able to deal with a possible case safely.

I don’t know about going wild, but apparently we didn’t stop Ebola in its tracks, either.

Why no, no there hasn’t.

But there are a great many people pondering that question.

WTF does this judge dude have to do with any of this, a public health issue? Why not the mayor of Dallas or governor Perry? Who told this guy he’s in charge of anything?

It would be helpful to know how many medical people had contract with Duncan.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Fauci, “The system worked.”

Where have we heard that before.

Remember, as Obama says “You cannot get it through casual contact like sitting next to someone on a bus.”

Apparently, can only get it when wearing full PPE in a hospital (but not following Level 4 biosafety procedures with 100% precision).

I don’t think Ebola is going to go wild. It needs extreme poverty, stupidity, ignorance, superstition and lack of basic health-care infrastructure to go wild.

Which is why it is prevalent in West Africa and is being vectored into the USA by such people. Perhaps it can find a small foothold among such groups in the USA, but I don’t see it moving beyond.
