Ebola in Brooklyn? Teen hospitalized after showing symptoms of fatal virus
Daily Mail Online ^ | 11 October 2014 | Chris Spargo

A Brooklyn teenager was rushed to the hospital yesterday after showing symptoms consistent with Ebola.

The 14-year-old boy had a fever and was feeling fluish according to officials who spoke to the Daily News.

He was brought to Brookdale Hospital where tests are being run to see if he has the disease.

He is currently in isolation.

The boy was apparently in Sudan for two weeks and hospitalized there as well, but lied to officials about being sick so he could fly home.

Now, NYPD is working with officials to see if any of his family members should also be quarantined.

It’s still not clear exactly when the boy flew back into the country and just how many people he has been in contact with since returning.

New York City has been preparing for these situations it was recently revealed, with actors going into hospitals and feigning Ebola-like symptoms to see how staff handled the scenario.

I wish the press would stop with the Ebola like symptoms fear mongering....

I half agree with you. Any year I have not had the "Ebola-like symptoms" of a headache and fever, at least a couple members of my family have had them. The fact that one of our many travelers from Africa has Flu/Malaria/Whatever is not news. The only part that is newsworthy is the pattern that Africans know to lie about their health when traveling here. Even when coming from a country with no known Ebola this year, this kid lied.

The bottom line is that questioning immigrants from Africa is pointless. The only answer is to quarantine away anyone with a passport from or stamped by Sierra Leone, Liberia, or Guinea. Even that is not enough unless we seal our borders against illegals (undocumented democrats), but it's a start.

Last I could find, there were zero (0) Ebola cases reported in Sudan. (Unlike the United States.)

There are maybe a gazillions things that could possibly kill you in the Sudan (most hazardous are are probably Sudanese) but Ebola doesn't seem to be on of them, yet. I don't doubt the kid is sick, but the chances are very low that it's Ebola.

South Sudan is Christian, thus the civil war that led to the breakup of the country into Sudan and South Sudan.

Also, ion channel blockers (typically used as anti-arrhythmics or anti-hypertensives) may inhibit entry of the virus into host cells:

Perhaps one could slow progression of the disease long enough to allow the immune system to mount an effective defense (antibodies).

If you do more research, you will find that it is likely a misnomer to say that Vitamin C will be useful. It appears that there are some who think it will cure AIDS, Ebola, and about everything else. C may be useful in helping the body ward off or fight some bugs, but it isn’t a panacea for such as Ebola - if it was, someone would be doing their best to become very very rich by touting the discovery.

If the news dept actually did just a tiny bit of research before writing an article pimping the Ebola fear mongering , they would have discovered there are no current Ebola cases in Sudan where this person was from...

I believe he doesn’t want to stop because of the slippery slope fear - people who want open borders like him don’t want any limits for fear it will precipitate calls for other limits. Similar to how abortion-supporters want no limits for similar reasons.

If the news dept actually did just a tiny bit of research before writing an article . . .

They can't even do the research to correctly identify my fully-automatic 12-gauge pump-action AK-47 Glock assault pistol. How can you expect them to check on something as hard as whether Sudan is on the list of three countries with widespread outbreaks?

2 words in this report are clues to me - - Sudan - lied
Now NY considers if any of his family members should also be quarantined.
YES! WHY DELAY!?
Congo, adjacent to Sudan, had 2 cases of the original (worse) Zaire Ebola in Sept.
Sudan had 2 suspected Ebola cases and shut down all reporting on Ebola in Sudan.

I have been reporting news online since 1998.
I have tried to track Ebola (OBOLA) and EV68 (OBOLIO or 0BOLA) which sometimes includes partial paralisis. I have kept track of southern border issues too, and our fine Patriot Patrols down there. I have a few insiders to give me info.
I have a sense Ebola is loose in USA and will show up by Nov. 1.
I am not the only person who wonders
1 - if USA will have elections
2 - if it will matter, judging by watching the GOP RINO wimps
I am NOT hopeful for the republic.

Beginning in July with all the illegals pouring over our border (planned since at least January) and the spread of many serious illnesses in our states, coupled with CDC LYING to us, I would have to say
All this is planned - as many are saying - all by design.
Georgia Guidestones
U.N. Agenda 21
Depopulation

(I dunno how long before I can post articles on freep, Im new here. )

I’d be incredibly surprised if an Ebola case turned up from Sudan. Considering Sudan has not had an Ebola outbreak since 2004, and it is really far away from the affected countries, any such case would be from a new and different outbreak.

That sounds very strange. I'm trying to think of a mechanism that could be involved in blocking endocytosis of the virus... I supposed I can read the paper and see what the authors say.
