If the "H" were a "1" that would have been the right year, and too much of a coincidence. But I don't get anything out of H982.

H is the letter before I. In a similar vein, there were those who said the computer HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey was one letter short of IBM.

The 982 part is also close to “928” which is the model Porsche concerned. That would have been my first association.
