I believe we just can not give up or go Galt (at least on our youth). Here is my reasoning: I work with teens at Church teaching Confirmation. There are a lot of great hard working kids out there. I believe their sense of mercy and justice is better than my generation in the 60’s. However (and I tell this to them), they are a “take it for granted” generation in that they expect things that are available now (freedom, clean water, iPods, etc.) will always be available. So I gently try and inform, make them question the common assumptions and hold their Christian heritage as a true blessing. When I think of all those that have come before our generation and sacrificed to grant us the blessings we live with now, I can only look at our youth and try and do the same. I will never abandon them. I know it is tough but in my heart, I can do no other thing. God bless.

I agree Shark, never giving up, this I know for a fact.

God bless you for the work you are doing, I have doubt you have impacted those children far more than you may realize currently. And yes, our generation is a disaster, it’s embaressing.
