Democrats losing long war against voter ID
Washington Examiner ^ | October 6, 2014 | John Fund and Hans Von Spakovsky

In one month, voters will go to the polls to elect the entire House of Representatives and a third of the Senate. Will the midterms be clean? Could some elections be stolen? Everyone ostensibly agrees that voters have a right to know that their decision is not being ignored. And a clear majority supports a simple way to make sure: voter ID.

You would not know it if you read only the New York Times or watched only MSNBC, but the Left and President Obama are losing their fight to block the widespread introduction of voter ID cards. In courts of law and the court of public opinion, the issue is gaining traction. With few exceptions, liberal pressure groups have lost lawsuits in state after state, with courts tossing out their faux claims that ID laws are discriminatory, unconstitutional or suppress minority voting.

Polls show that a large majorities including Republicans, Democrats, whites, blacks and Hispanics support voter ID as a common-sense reform. The myth that voter ID is a new Jim Crow-type effort to reduce minority voting is widely rejected for the rubbish that it is — except by academia and the glitterati of the mainstream media. One Rasmussen poll found that 72 percent of the public believes all voters should prove their identities before being allowed to cast ballots, and also that when it comes to voter ID, “opinions have not changed much over the years.”

Properly drafted voter ID laws, with safeguards against absentee ballot fraud and strict limits on laws that allow people to register and vote on Election Day, improve public confidence in elections.

The left has yet to produce a single live legal voter who does not have an official ID. ID is needed to get welfare and to buy booze (thus they can’t produce a single democratic voter).

You need ID for most everything else and your vote is your most important possession. Keep it safe and secure Voter ID is necessary for the system to work properly.

To show what a fake all this nonsense over voter ID being some kind of “Jim Crow” law that prevents minorities from voting, there's this. One of the states wrote a statute requiring a photo ID to be required when the person presented themselves at the polling place. The libs said it was unfair to the poor and disadvantaged who were afraid of government and couldn't possibly travel to get the ID. The ID was free of charge and issued through the DMV as just an ID card. If the person could not access the DMV, all they had to do was call for a free ride to the facility and back. All they had to do was present a bill or envelope with their name on it and the ID was issued. The lefties still said it was discrimination because they couldn't cheat.

all it will take is a few reliable judges to overturn the will of the people and citizenship will be meaningless.

Voter ID is like CCW - eventually the facts will overwhelm the leftist narrative, and “shall issue” will be nearly universal (except for Manhattan and San Francisco)...

Sheesh - you need ID to buy a sixpack or cash a check. Even the low-information voters know that, and they aren’t buying “Jim Crow” for a second.

Well, there you have it. The law discriminates against poor people who don't have access to a phone.

they demand id for everything else. yet they don’t want people to be securethat nobody else can steal their vote and make sure that the voter is who they say they are.

welfare folks require id. they’ve already got them.

Great work has been done on this. As the window on simple ID fraud narrows, the Dem’s will expand other avenues. Some big problems to be dealt with next:
1) Illegal Absentee Voting where others cast ballots for people who should not be voting due to mental incapacity (such as clinically-diagnosed dementia, coma, severe brain injury, institutionalized mental illness, retardation, etc.). Once partisan “helpers” get these folks are on the voter rolls, what stops them from signing Absentee Ballots and mailing them in?
2) Duplicated voter registration, with votes cast in two or more states or jurisdictions. Large numbers of duplicate registrations have been found to exist, even though many states will not provide their data. Even if they vote only once, Dem’s in “sure thing” Blue States possibly shift registration to competitive states. Probably 1000’s in Mass-New Hampshire; NY/NJ-Florida; DC-MD/VA. CA-AZ?

ID is needed to buy alcohol, board a plane and rent a car. IT NEEDS TO BE USED TO VOTE.

Well, the evil Republicans will probably prevent these poor people from learning about Obamaphones...using their stranglehold on the media.

Another big threat in deep-blue precincts is to have ‘people’ loitering around to vote on election night for registered voters at 6:55pm who didn’t bother to vote.
