American 'cured' of Ebola back in isolation after just two weeks: Fears for doctor as he is readmitted to hospital suffering from a persistent cough and fever

Dr Rick Sacra, 51, contracted the deadly infection while working in Liberia Was treated at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and released Is back in the UMass Memorial Medical Center with a respiratory illness Doctors are performing checks to make sure the infection has not returned However staff at the facility are confident he has not relapsed The third US patient to be treated for Ebola on American soil has been isolated again in hospital after suffering a persistent cough and fever.

Dr Rick Sacra, 51, who contracted the deadly virus while working in Liberia was readmitted to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, two weeks after he was cleared.

He was treated at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for the infection last month and was released.

Doctors are said to be performing tests on him to make sure Ebola has not returned, however they claim he has not relapsed - also stressing that the public should not be concerned.

Medical Director Dr Phil Smith told WCVB: 'Even though the likelihood of Dr. Sacra having a relapse of Ebola is extremely low, doctors will run tests to be 100 percent sure. 'Because of his recent battle with the Ebola virus, his immune system is compromised. The symptoms he has are indicative of a respiratory illness and are not those of someone suffering from Ebola,' he added.

The hospital confirmed they had a patient in isolation, adding that they had a 'travel history to and from West Africa', but confirmed it was not an Ebola case.

What good is it going to do him anyway to be “cured” when the radical Muslim Democrats had the bright idea to elect President is doing his utmost to spread this disease? Today is Sunday Oct. 5 - Flights banned from Liberia yet? Nope. Flights banned from any West African nation? Nope. But of course he’ll ban flights into Israel at the drop of a hat. Oh those evil Joos. Southern border secured? Nope. Illegals being deported? Nope. Matter of fact The One is flying them all over the continental US. So I say probably in a few more weeks the radical Muslim will have pretty much accomplished his goal of spreading Ebola to every major US city while Republicans continue to lay in a coma.

We are working closely with the Centers for Disease Control."

This might be the worst part of Ebola and not the Ebola itself. We should quarantine the CDC itself for 10 years at a minimum, we don't want to take any chances.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

This is one of the most convoluted incidents to date.
Cough and fever but those are not the symptoms of Ebola, although other reports indicate that early signs of Ebola include coughing and fever.

Patient is in isolation, but that is not because of his recent bout with Ebola.

Patient has cough and fever, but needs more testing to determine that this is not a relapse into Ebola.

The PC PR from UMass Memorial Medical Center is starting to resemble the clown circus taking place in Dallas.

Nebraska getting another one tomorrow.. He did victory laps through the hallways before going home. I pray for the solid organ and bone maarow transplant patients there with little or no immune systems. This is a very big world renown transplant center. The 7th floor is the old pediatric transplant center a few floors above the main cafeteria and below the present cancer center where patients receive chemo. As well as the clinic for transplant patients.
