If we can medically treat, feed, house, school and give them welfare, then we can stop it by simply cutting off the benefits.

This is not a immigration problem. It is not now but will likely become a refugee problem....big difference..

If Ebola, which is unfortunately out of control on the African West coast, continues to spread..and it would if not brought under control, you would not be able to stop refugees from entering this country, even if you stopped all international flight, which would never be done BTW, because it would disrupt out entire economy.

Currently, nearly all transportation to Africa via air, is commercial flights from and to Europe, and the aid, doctors, nurses, and NGO teams are all using this these flights to get in and out.

If you curtail the commercial flights, you would need to replace them with military airlift,in and out of the US. If other countries curtailed their flight, many of them as well would have to provide military airlift to move their people in and out.

It might be possible to do, but I think I supported the idea that you would have to replace it. No NGO team or doctor or aid group would voluntarily go to west Africa, unless they could get out. If they could get out by going to France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium..whatever and then to the US, they would do that, as would anyone wanting to fly out.

The Dallas guy did not fly direct either...so what you would need to do is to not accept ANY international flights.

Just like when you build a fence on the border, or put a padlock on a gate, people will put up a ladder or go around the gate if they cannot jump over it.

If you think the Coyotes' are bad in Mexico, imagine the money that will be made by them for bringing Africans and other refugees from other infected 3rd world countries to the US, docking small boats from a mother ship at various points on our coastlines..

I think your solutions are far too short sighted.

I think your fears of a serious problem down the road are quite valid, but your solutions are all wrong.

Like many people I have chatted with over the past several weeks, I would advise you that isolating the US will not in the end, keep our country safe.

What will keep it safe, is the same thing we have been doing for a hundred or so years, and that is intervention at the source of the problem

We would keep them out of the country and quarantine them if we can. I guess you never read about Elliss Island?

I never said isolate the entire U.S. from the rest of the world. You changed my argument of no flights from countries that have a pandemic of Ebola to the entire work. Then you then debated that. LOL! Nice Delphi method ;-) Yes I know all about that. Now let's get back to my original point.

Using your logic of their is nothing we can do.. Well then the White House should not have a fence or any type of security what so ever. Since someone who is determined could get through. Which is complete rubbish.

No one said there is a perfect system, but any type of security is better than very little to none. It's kind of like locking your doors at night. A burglar may still break through a window, but the locked door does help.

All I'm saying end flights to countries that have a pandemic of Ebola. British Airways is doing that, Air France is doing it and so is Saudi Arabia. We can do that and still attack it at the source.

I'm sorry but I don't buy the “do very little to nothing approach”. At this stage we can still stop it before it gets far worse.

Exactly! Military aircraft with professionals to aid in this challenge (tragedy) ONLY, not panicked Ebola victims and their family attempting to escape willy nilly. There is absolutely NO REASON for commercial flights leaving or entering the Hot Zone. Right now there should be only medical ships, C130 (assuming the airports are built for such large aircraft), etc. leaving and entering the Hot Zone to do what needs to be done. PERIOD.

Allowing COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS in and out of the Hot Zone is total BULL SHIT.
