We have one thread predicting 140 million dead Americans, another predicting between 50% and 75% of the world’s population by December of next year, and plenty of individual post saying 50 million and such figures.

Beyond ridiculous. Remember SARS? H1N1 (Swine Flu)? The "Bird" Flu? We were all gonna DIE!!! Yeah, except that we didn't, and the predictions of infection and death rates were insanely overblown, to say the least. And all of those are more contagious than Ebola, unless it's transmission avenues have changed significantly.

If it can't wipe out densely populated cities and towns in Africa within a couple of years (it's been here and there in Africa since 1976, at least), it sure as hell isn't going to kill HALF of the U.S. population, much less the world, in 15 months.

People need to use their brains, and stop hyperventilating over this stuff. It is not an airborne contagion, which seriously limits its ability to spread. Is it awful? Yes. Is it fatal? 50-90% of the time, yes. Is it going to kill millions in this country or even worldwide in the next year, or even the next 10 years? No freaking way.

Can you imagine how embarrassed you and I will be though, if 75% of the world is dead by next December, and we have to eat crow?

Boy, would we feel silly.
