Former "Jersey Shore" reality series star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and his brother underpaid taxes on nearly $9 million in income over the last several years, the U.S. attorney's office charged in a seven-count indictment released Wednesday.

"The brothers were scheduled to surrender to marshals and make an initial court appearance in U.S. District Court in Newark on Wednesday afternoon."
Are you saying Snooki is the smart one?
So he blew all the money he made on Jersey Shore and didn’t save any of it to pay taxes. Gee, who could have seen that coming . . . .
LOL! Maybe.
Tax issues? Must be preparing for a position in Obama’s Cabinet...
I really cannot understand how one can not pay their taxes, it’s so easy to have it deducted on a regular basis from whatever money source you get your money from.
Just pay them. No one, NO ONE ever gets away with tax evasion.
“I Forgot.”
How in the hell did someone that stupid make $9 million??? Wow...
Vote for democraps, pay the demotax.
Much worse than that, according to the prosecution.
From the article: "According to the indictment, the Sorrentinos earned about $8.9 million between 2010 and 2012, mostly through two companies they controlled, MPS Entertainment and Situation Nation. They allegedly filed false documents that understated the income from the businesses as well as their personal income. Mike Sorrentino also is charged with failing to file taxes for 2011, a year in which he earned nearly $2 million. The brothers also allegedly spent millions of dollars on personal expenses they claimed were for business. In 2012, for example, the brothers filed documents with an unnamed accounting firm in Staten Island that claimed $3.9 million in business expenses, according to the indictment released by U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman."
If you accurately report your income on your tax returns but don't have the money to pay the tax, the IRS collections people will chase you, but those kind of cases virtually never result in a criminal prosecution. Lying on your tax return, or not filing a return at all, are what will land you in prison.
Yep I wonder that too.
And I wonder how the heck he got such bad money advice, didn’t have a CPA or financial planner to assist with how to pay your taxes, invest for the future, etc.
If he had managed things properly, he would be set for life financially right now. Who knows if he will be in demand for other TV shows or movies and get paid so much in the future. Fame is fleeting.
I Forgot.
...hard drive crashed...
I wonder if they’ve crossed paths with the Giudices of “Real Housewives of NJ” and IRS fame?
Actors and reality stars are contract workers and responsible for doing, or getting done, everything themselves.
Having said that, they should have just banked everything and only draw a bit more than what they needed and waited.
He made enough over his tv career that he didn’t need to work again.
Well, almost anyway.
Filing false documents and failure to pay taxes.
I see a plea deal in the work. I don’t think Mike will like the “situation” in prison.
Great,, now he’s going to have get back in front of the camera to pay of his debt . .
Probably not.
I heard on the radio that a comment from the IRS was
“telling the truth to the IRS is not an option”.
Bastards. Absolute Bastards. Cough up the emails!
