The father of missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham held up his daughter's favorite stuffed rabbit for reporters to see. ... "I believe Jesse Matthew was the last person she was seen with before she vanished off the face of the Earth," the police chief said. "We want to talk to him."

In the last week different news outlets have been reporting 5 girls in 5 years have disappeared.
IIRC, this morning Fox news reported that 12 girls have gone missing in about 5 years. They had it on with the segment featuring that retired LA detective Mark Fuhrman.
I remember that case but I thought the perp was believed to be Hispanic. Could be wrong about that, though.
So, out of the 1000’s of “people of interest” that are ID’d every week or so, you mention two bad examples and generalize for everyone. Look at the PA State Trooper killing last week. Couple persons of interest quickly ID’d and exonerated. Now they are looking for the real killer.
Wow - the guy on the top right looks like Obama if he weighed more. He could be one of Obama’s sons.
I think he shaved his head.
My point, that if announced to the public that you are a Person of Interest, it makes sense to lawyer up. .
Sorry, was thinking of Bruce Evans, ALSO incriminated, who DID suicide and who the Feds paid damages over. .
how old is he, he looks fairly young there
That, of course, is everyone’s right. But just because you showed up on a security camera in a public place around the time something happened and the police want to see if you have any info, that’s not really a reason to get a lawyer. But that may not fit your ‘person of interest’ label. Which is a valid point.
“I understand that. I also know the police were following him to a house, and he supposedly fled away at a high rate of speed, such that police had to end the pursuit. That is above and beyond just getting a lawyer.”
Local PD has really botched this from the get-go. And, the Chief of Police; watched him in tv a couple of times and it’s obvious that he’s in way over his head. Needs to take a handful of Valium, maybe a couple of shots of Wild Turkey...
There is no such thing whatsoever as a “person of interest” legally. If they call you that, you are a suspect.
“There would be a lot of people walking around free today if they just kept their trap shut”.
You can change that to read, “There ARE a lot of people.....”....
Every black “witness” will swear to that.
The fact that you show up on a surveillance cam at the time and place of the incident is called, “evidence”. If someone is collecting evidence and calling you a suspect, (or the trendy term with identical meaning, “person of interest”) you damned well better have a lawyer.
The terms can be interchangeable depending on how broad you’re willing to go. If the cops have zero idea who did something and they have you on video over the last few hours, then technically you could be labeled as a ‘suspect’ until you are eliminated as one. Cops use ‘person of interest’ because it doens’t sound a s bad. And usually a five minute conversation will totally exonerate many of these people.
Yes. He is very emotionally involved, it seems (unless it is some kind of psyche-out kin to what is seen in movies).
Poor parents. Poor silly girl. No doubt she is dead like the other women murdered up and down the Rt 29 corridor in recent years.
Young black men: 3% of the population. 50% of the murder.
They also took this guy’s car to search for evidence and searched his apartment last weekend. Guilty or innocent, he most definitely needs a lawyer.
