Caution is needed for some items on Craigslist. Many times a computer, tablet, phone etc will be advertised; then when the potential customer shows up with a couple of friends they pull a gun or they strong arm and take the item from the seller.
Yeah I tool all their advice. I will list here for you.
1) I met up in a public place. It was a coffee shop I designated. I did not let the buyer pick where we meet up.
2) Cash only, no checks (too many fake checks today), and no I was not going to mail it.
3) You get the product AS IS. My iPad was in excellent condition and looked just like the day I purchased it.
I've bought and sold a lot of computer gear and other stuff on Craigslist. Some sellers invite me into their home while they're alone, and are almost inviting me to roll them and rip off stuff. Crazy. Others are cautious, and do the swap at a neutral 3rd-party site. I'm the latter, buying and selling at well-lit parking lots with lots of foot traffic around. I've become friends with some I did deals with, and we laugh about how cautious we were of each other. It doesn't hurt to be cautious.
