Florida State announced on Wednesday that quarterback Jameis Winston will be suspended for the first half of this week's game against No. 22 Clemson due to lewd comments he made on Tuesday. The university released a statement from interim president Garnett S. Stokes and athletic director Stan Wilcox that reads:

cops botched and delayed the investigation for several months

and you know that how? If you knew anything about the incident, you would know that the alledged victim did more to hinder the investigation than anyone else involved...

He’s working up to an offense that can’t be swept under the rug.

Hardly noteworthy in today’s social media sphere of influence. Having spent 4 years walking through the student union, I saw and heard MUCH worse than an athlete yelling obscenities.

We used to bowl at Crenshaw lanes in the union and often left very late, very drunk, and saw stuff that’s not legal in most of the world.

That’s too harsh—he should only be suspended on 3rd down plays. (’

The authorities at FSU should not have acted: those crude cow tippers at Dimson don't care the slightest about obscene language.

he is accused of drugging and raping a young woman....is that called being “so silly”? (cops botched and delayed the investigation for several months )

Uhhh...no.

You see, I read the 80-ish pages of evidence. Multiple witnesses had the victim, while extremely intoxicated, inviting herself into their car as they were leaving. She is what is known as a "Cleat Chaser" - rountinely throwing herself at players. There was no accusation of drugging.

The victim put forth several contradictory stories and was reluctant to give a statement to the police. She only did after her roommate told her parents that she was very late coming home. It seems that to cover her butt (so to speak) she made up a story about being kidnapped and raped. Wouldn't want Mom and Dad to really know what she had been up to. Parents pressured her into making a report to the police. Worried that they might find Winston's DNA (after the consensual sex), she identified him as the rapist. The fact that they found her boyfriend's DNA on the same underwear speaks volumes of her habits, if not her hygiene.

Jameis Winston is a ticking time bomb. He hangs in the wrong circles and exhibits what can politely be described now as immaturity. As that metastasizes, he will become a full fledged thug. The NFL would do well to ignore him altogether lest he become the next Ray Rice.

I wish someone would post the “phrase” with * in the right places.

Remember when repeating a Seinfeld skit costs your job? Something about the name of a women’s part that rhymes with “Doris”.

OK for the FCC, not OK for work.

I don't know , I am a guy, but taking advantage of a very intoxicated female tells me more about Winston's character and his habits.

I would like to hark back to time when this kind of behavior could not only cost you playing time but in all likely hood would be reason for your dismissal from the team altogether.
You think a coach of the caliber of a Bear Bryant would tolerate this. No he would not anymore than coaches of a certain time and era would.
Yet today’s coaches under pressure to win will tolerate and white wash it and contribute to the absolute dumbing down of standards, ethics, morality and plain common sense.

So just for the sake of argument would this even a be a big deal if he had said, “hey fellas, anyone up for a game of butt darts.”

I suppose then he would be brave and heralded as courageous and ESPN would spend hundreds of hours talking about him.

Oh, and I hate Florida State football...so, I’m not defending the idiot.

“Without clicking on the report, what did he say?

It’s remarkable this guy can be so mature and successful as a quarterback on the field, and so silly off the field. His on-field success as a young player is nearly unprecedented.”

In football there is a thing called the playbook. Everything is scripted for him and he is playing on a field with defined boundaries. The boundaries for our lives are what we make them, and the playbook for life is called the Bible which he has probably never seen.

I'm not a 'me' person...

Really? So you stole $32 in crab legs for someone else? You're being investigated for rape, but you did that for someone else, too? Your attitude is one of a privileged, spoiled brat who thinks you can get away with anything as long as you hold a press conference and say what your coaches have told you to say. Then, to make the mockery even worse, FSU steps in with a half game suspension. What a joke. And the really sad thing is you're so stupid and the punishment so light, you won't learn a thing from this. You're an idiot.

The accuser gave contradictory testimony. There's no debate about that.

However, remember that Winston's two 'eyewitnesses' (both FSU football players) gave contradictory accounts of what happened. The TPD relied heavily on those two witnesses. Drugging was discussed. Tests were done for alcohol and other drugs, but not for date rape drugs.

Chris Casher recorded some of the sexual activity on his phone, but the Tallahassee Police Department waited quite a while to contact him. By that time, the video had been erased.

The TPM delayed and bungled the investigation, whether the accuser made up the sexual assault or not. The jovial nature of Florida state attorney William Meggs's press certainly promoted the tone that the investigation was not taken seriously - and certainly wasn't pursued in a vigorous and timely manner.
