Tired of Cheech & Chong pot jokes and ominous anti-drug campaigns, the marijuana industry and activists are starting an ad blitz in Colorado aimed at promoting moderation and the safe consumption of pot.

To get their message across, they are skewering some of the old Drug War-era ads that focused on the fears of marijuana, including the famous “This is your brain on drugs” fried-egg ad from the 1980s. […]

“So far, every campaign designed to educate the public about marijuana has relied on fear-mongering and insulting marijuana users,” said Mason Tvert, spokesman for the Marijuana Policy Project, the nation’s biggest pot-policy advocacy group. …

I have brewed beer and have distilled ethanol legally to 95% or if you prefer 190 proof. (part of pharmaceutical recouping of waste ethanol). The production of almost maximum percentage of ethanol has been doable since distilling was invented many centuries ago. Nothing new here. The increasing of potency of cannabis by breeding a more potent plant is fairly new. 190 proof alcohol can and will kill you if you take too much. Like Rum 151 proof is doable but not much more.
The increase content of tetra hydra cannabinol has made pot compareable to LSD especially if eaten.

The two are apples and oranges and not comparable

B.S. Pot is pot... it's the same stuff that's been around for decades. If you want to get some chemist-distilled pure THC stuff perhaps you can find that... just like you can choose Vodka instead of beer.

a similar punishment should be implemented for pot and other driving while intoxicated situations

There is where my problem with legalization comes in, there is not a test to determine level of influence as there is with booze/beer. If that hurdle were cleared I’d be open to considering it.

I would NEVER support “decriminalization” however as that would still keep all the negatives of the gangs, cartels, etc getting rich off the trade. Plus this is where it really becomes a gateway drug as since you are already breaking the law buying it and they guy has some other stuff....

If you have a “pot purchase permit” then you are not allowed to have a DL. It is one OR the other.
