The Officials Blew it Monday Night in the Colts Game

The officials blew the game big time in the fourth quarter of the Colts versus Eagles game, most notably on a huge non-call of defensive holding.

You never want to be those fans. You never want to be those fans that blame the officiating for the loss. Let's face it: every fanbase thinks that their team were the victims of some cheap calls that hurt them. Every fanbase is the same, and each week is no different. That's why I generally try to stay away from criticizing the officials too much.

Tonight, however, is different. Tonight, whether you're a Colts fan or not, you could make a very strong case that the officials cost the Colts the game. Let's not take the blame off of others - like the coaches. But let's also not downplay the fact that the officials botched some crucial calls tonight that shaped the game.

With 5:15 left in the game, the Colts led the Eagles 27-20. They faced a 3rd down and 9 from the Eagles 22 yard line. As it was, it would have been around a 39 yard field goal for Adam Vinatieri to put the Colts up by two scores. Instead, the entire game changed on one play. Andrew Luck was picked off across the middle, giving the Eagles the ball back (and only preventing a score thanks to a Reggie Wayne touchdown-saving tackle). No field goal for the Colts. The Eagles drove down the field and tied it up. But the interception has been one that has generated a lot of discussion, and it's because the referees missed a huge call. T.Y. Hilton was held as he was going across the middle. The hold prevented him from getting to the ball and instead allowed the Eagles to pick it off.

The officials are ruining the sport, pure and simple!

The games have become an excuse for all the other stuff....the soap operas, the advertising, glitz, the media magnifiying situations, the thought police with their agenda....

The NFL lost me with their last move. Goodell has been pandering to women's groups whose goal is to destroy football so much, he finally crossed a bridge too far. Appointing women to decide how men should behave off the field is bizarre. The message Goodell is sending is that men can't be trusted to clean up their own act.

I had no interest either way in Sunday’s game between Broncos and Chiefs. The Broncos ran into the punter on the Chief’s first punt. No flag. No call. Announcers say nothing.

The league is wildly inconsistent in calls. To say the least. It does make you wonder about conspiracy theories.

Timing is everything. Had the receiver not been pushed down, it may have been an incomplete, but not an interception.............

I wouldn’t go that far, but they could have some better officiating and a better review process.................

Colts suck because of its owner. Never forgive him for flapping his gums about Rush becoming a part owner in the RAMS. Then got stuck with Stan Kroenke, worst owner ever- even worse than Jerry Jones.

The owner isn’t the problem with the Cowboys, it’s the GM that’s the problem.

I always DVR the games I want to watch. I can one click Fast Forward in between plays and it matches perfectly because one click is 30 secs. And with the commercials eliminated, I can get through a game in about an hour.

I had that thought for a minute too. 2 horribly crappy calls benefitting the Eagles! How can that horse collar call not be reversed?
Instant replay is getting better and next year they better use it for calls like the interception and tackle.

Only a couple of penalties are reviewable, like 12 men on the field. Horse collar tackle is not one of them.
