In the 14 years since Indiana controversially fired Bob Knight, the iconic former Hoosiers coach has never returned to the school he led to five Final Fours and three national championships.
One of Knight's most famous former players hopes he sets aside his grudge soon.
Former Big Ten player of the year A.J. Guyton, one of five new members of Indiana's athletic hall of fame, wrote an open letter on his Facebook page appealing to Knight to come back to Bloomington for the Nov. 7 induction dinner

a tremendously well written facebook request....sounds like a man of high character.....good luck Mr. Guyton..
As far as going back home again to Indiana, there is still a lot of bitterness and it open more wounds than heal them.
Anyway the guy really knows basketball......and folding chairs.
It all depends on the weather...as soon as hell freezes over he’ll be back.
First World Problems
When he was coaching at IU, he raised many millions for their library. He also had most of his students get degrees. Unfortunately for him , he didn’t suffer pompous professors and administration well. IU did him wrong...very wrong. If I were him, I’d only return if the moronic professors and administration involved in harassing him issued a formal public apology.
You are absolutely correct on all points. The Marxist professors constantly attacked him because they were jealous of the money and attention he received. Yes, he’s an arrogant jerk, but he’s arguable the best basketball mind alive. Definitely one of the greatest ever. He got booted by a ridiculous zero tolerance policy crafted by the equally arrogant and radically leftwing president of the university.
If I were him at some point, I would go back in spite of the idiots on the academic side. Dick Vitalle is right, the court needs to be named the Robert Montgomery Knight Court. He is due that honor, and it would be tremendous for the program.
He is a class A hothead. I used to hate him for those antics. Then I found out how much his players love him and what the graduation rate of his students was. It changed my mind. His players finish college, and in a sport where that is usually secondary to basketball, I respect that.
“surprisingly unbiased”
Ummmm...NO!
For YEARS, he could not utter the word: “Kentucky”.
Having been an adult student at PSU, I have that trait very much in common with him .. LOL !
I felt the same way regarding Lou Holtz for many years, then years ago at the Stanford-ND game I met Mike Trogovic (he was the brother of a neighbor and a coach at ND). He and I spoke about Lou Hotlz and he told a couple of stories that only an insider would know. Bottom line was Holtz loves his players and always has their best interest at heart.
The persona's we see (or think we see), often do not reflect the real person.
yeah, he is (was) a hard guy to figure out.
I hated him, then kind of liked him. Now, I have gotten older and could care less about most sports other than playing them with my kids.
I still hate Lou Holtz.....:)
Well as much as he hated Kentucky, he never threw a chair at one their games. I was shocked at how he commented on the Purdue IU games. He was pretty complimentary of Purdue.
It is possible that his hatred of IU now exceeds his loathing of Purdue.
Well a lot of them do love him, but then a fair number left or decided they didn’t want to play for him in the first place. Glen Robinson and Larry Bird come to mind.
