short of being shown pictures of his family and told ‘either you do this, or we kill them all.’

Yet another possibility.

There have been tons of Russians beheaded, by chechens who are now in part running the show in Iraq.

In fact it is believed that the chechens were the ones who introduced the movie-making and beheading to the iraqi terrorists.

Just google chechen beheading and you can watch them all night long.

This is different; these days Westerners are always looking for someone to take care of them and do all the dirty work one way or another. Another facet is emotional immaturity. One or the other alone is bad, but both, which have infected the West, is what is making this so fatal for our civilization.

I guess he was beaten down and broken ove a long period prior to this. He can’t be forced to say anything.

Easy to armchair quarterback when one wasn't on this particular "chopping block".

No sane person would question why he made the statements or try to figure out a reason for it.

Tragic - terrified people say things like that, hoping against all hope they may be allowed to live, even if just for a few more minutes. If my day ever comes, I hope I have the courage to say something that mocks and enrages my ISIS captors, even though the tape would be destroyed.

It is hard to say what the murdered men might have been subjected to, what kinds of torture; physical and psychological or even repeatedly raped prior to their beheadings. I’m not sure if it is true or not, but I’ve heard it said that ISIS have their prisoners read statements under duress frequently with the “promise” that if they do so, they won’t be beheaded that day and most days they aren’t beheaded until the day they are.

It is also possible that they were shown pictures of and the home addresses, email addresses of their family members, perhaps even pictures of their family members taken by sleeper agents telling them that their families will be killed unless… or that unseen by the camera, there are other prisoners and they were told, “if you don’t read this statement, you will watch as we kill one of your fellow prisoners.”

I’d like to think that if I were about to be murdered by these savages, I wouldn’t read the statement or would read it and then as I knew I was about to be killed shout out, “That’s a lie, just like your Koran, a book only worthy of being used as toilet paper and your pedophile, camel f’ing supposed prophet who is rotting in hell and being raped by pigs and dogs this very minute”. But of course ISIS wouldn’t release that video, would they?

Wow. I wouldn’t expect that type of intellectual honesty from the likes of Maher but on this, he is absolutely correct. And I will give him credit for, at least on this, having the balls to say it. I also liked how he called out Rose on Ayaan Hirsi Ali, telling Rose, “well unlike you and me, she knows”.

Multi culturalism is the problem. It has been used to replace a healthy level of national pride and patriotism

The executioner mentality is probably immune to all the standard insults and profanity.

I hope I would be creative enough to deliver a one liner that would ring in his head and irritate him for the rest of his life.

A Londoner killing a Scot. That’ll help the “Yes” vote.

Journalist Once Held by Islamic State Militants Reveals Why He Believes Beheading Victims Appeared So Calm Before Their Deaths
Sep. 16, 2014 10:15am Billy Hallowell

One of the many elements surrounding the Islamic State’s horrific beheadings has been questions surrounding why — and how — the victims appear so calm just seconds before dying.

A French journalist who was once held by the terror group believes that the captives likely didn’t realize what was about to happen.

Europe 1 radio reporter Didier Francois, 53, who was released earlier this year after 10 months of confinement with the Islamic State, said that militants put captives through a number of mock executions and, as a result, they were worn down and didn’t know what was to come, according to the Daily Mail.

“They did not realise that this time it was the real thing,” he said.

Francois claimed last month that he saw James Foley, an American journalist with whom he was detained, being forced to stand against a wall and pose as though “he had been crucified” before his death.

Observers have also pondered how the three victims — British aid worker David Haines and American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff — remained composed in light of their horrific circumstances, which were recorded by the terror group.

“All three men have appeared to display a quiet acceptance of their fate, leading to speculation that they either did not realise what awaited them or, that after a long and desperate confinement, any release was preferable to remaining in the hands of their tormentors,” the Guardian’s Martin Chulov wrote Sunday.

One diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Chulov that the victims appeared to be used to being tortured and threatened with death.

“It seems to me that each of those poor men had been used to mock executions,” he said. “They had been forced to do this sort of thing before. This is how depraved this group is.”

As for Francois, who was held for 10 months and released in April, he initially remained silent upon returning, keeping quiet for the sake of his former fellow prisoners.

“I never spoke about it publicly because the kidnappers had threatened reprisals on the remaining hostages if we spoke,” Francois said in a recent interview. “We contacted the families of the kidnapped and the American authorities, but publicly we decided to keep quiet

The only thing I can think for their calmness is since their sons were kidnapped so long ago they were prepared for the worst all along...except for the horrid way they were murdered, just that would have me gone over the edge.
