I disagree. When Kenyon dated Jerico her work was taken as authoritative by so many working in the field, that an entirely, bible-rejecting, road was taken.

I have met too many working in various fields of science who do not question prior work, take it as accurate, and then build upon another's faulty foundation.

Quite right, the OT starts with the Middle Kingdom.

The biggest problem is a xenophobic nationalism that has led to substandard conservation and research done by Egyptians, some of the trained only in Egypt. It has also led to ludicrous claims, like Egypt has been a unified country for 5000 years (a whopping lie) or that there was no slavery.

Kenyon’s work took place the better part of a century after the bias against the Bible had taken over everywhere. In order to undermine the divine right of kings the content of the Bible had to be rejected (or rather, that was the preferred path — rejecting the divine right of kings is something that doesn’t actually derive from the Scriptures).

That didn’t even begin with debunkers — the exaggeration of the age of the 19th dynasty is still supported by purported “Bible was right” people, who saddle on the ridiculous idea that Ramses II was pharaoh of the Exodus or the Oppression.
