Now is the time to start collecting how to books. Online sources need to be printed out so you’ll have hard copies of these as you won’t be able to acces the internet during SHTF times.
I’ve gathered info on substitutions for cooking ingredients and the latest project is minimal 2-3 ingredient recipes. Such as not having eggs but a boxed cake mix can be made with only the addition of a soft drink.
BTW, those who think throwing out some online survival garden seeds is going to feed their family are going to have a rude awakening. Aside from Master Gardener skills, gardens take a lot of water which many won’t have.
You are exactly right about gardening. It takes space, good soil, water, temperate environment (how long is your growing season and/or do you have a greenhouse?); access to sunlight (hard to hide) and time (45 days minimum but may be as long as 120 days for some crops to come in).
