The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Hi, Vision. Weekend’s been good. I had to work at the radio station this afternoon, so it put me off my Sunday laundry schedule. All’s well, though. We have pork ribs on the grill and are enjoying watching the hummingbirds war over our three feeders. I give them fresh “nectar” every other day, so they’re happy.

How about you? Are you having a very good weekend?

Thanks for the summaries, Gina. Hope you’re doing well. I just finished cooking a new tomato sauce recipe, with eggplant, beef sausage and Kielbasa, rather than my usual sweet Italian sausage and peppers. Not bad for a first attempt by an Irishman.

Cool. There was a humming bird passing by the other day, I've not tried feeding them.

I've been doing yard work, seeding, and prepping a door for painting. Freakin’ locked myself out of the house yesterday at 7:30am. Nuts. Great response time on the locksmith, but they bait and switched on the price.

Finally it's time to relax.
