I have a prayer request. I am having cancer surgery on Sept 16. Less than two weeks away. I'm having a mastectomy, with reconstruction. It all gets done (or at least started) on the table. Please pray for my fear, which is usually at the manageable level. And that I make it through surgery. I'll be in the hospital for one day. I opted to stay with my surgical oncologist that operated on me two years ago (cancer then too) for many reasons, one being he's THE breast cancer surgeon in Middle GA. Trouble is, after I was diagnosed, I've moved and he's now a bit more than an hour away. Still, I need to stay with him. I just couldn't trust anyone else. Also there's an excellent, skilled plastic surgeon down there that I will have. I don't know how I'll get back and forth afterwards, for the further work on reconstruction, but I will just have to find a way. Thank you for your prayers, my FRiends Shimmer

You are so kind to me. Thank you so much. I’m not having a good day today. They scheduled my surgery two weeks in the future, I have time to grow apprehensive. Plus a good friend had a mastectomy yesterday, I went to see her and was completely intimidated by the complexity of the care. She has a loving husband, her sister is there, her mother in law is there. I have no one to take care of me. I’m not doing well today. I’m tired of being strong. I don’t feel real strong today. sorry. :’(

Shimmer, certainly we will pray for your peace of mind and successful surgery. There are all kinds of cancer support groups, especially breast cancer.
Try to get in touch with your local cancer society. They can probably find a group near you, and thru that you may well find someone who will be happy to transport you from home to your docs an hour away. A friend of mine works extensively with a group in her area, and it’s absolutely amazing what they do.
You will probably be contacted by one of these groups while you’re in the hospital if you don’t reach out yourself, but I think I’d take the lead on that ... it will help you - and your nerves - as you head into the surgery.
