As we await word that Quinn and Rose are returning soon, - and it looks like negotiations continue - our friendly group of dedicated FReeper Q&R fans will continue to meet in our usual spot as we always have! So grab your coffee - or whatever you choose to start your day - and drop in for some political chit-chat, or just to shoot the breeze! We are all coming from - or going to - work, but we all stop in to say hi! Feel free to join us!
Good morning FRiends.
Good morning..back to work already..WJAS owner said Quinn and Rose lied..It was on the FB page..sigh..
Good morning n’@!
Have to tell you, I get pings to a lot of topics—one being the Ebola threads. This morning one of those threads has Monrovia in the title. I swear I had to look 3 times. I thought it read Monroeville.
Can I retire now? Just pull the covers over my head? For a month or two?
And did yinz see the news about the 11/12 (hey, whose counting?) MISSING LIBYAN AIRLINERS ?!?

Or the 2nd killed ISIS American who worked at the TwinCities Airport w/access to cleaning (planting things?!?) on planes?
Hi Greg...seems like some bad feelings there.
Still don’t know WHY they won’t just PODCAST (a lot of Twitter peeps do radio shows from their own laptops and have thousands of followers).
God help us. OUr country is in danger right now like we’ve never seen before. I am so glad son and wife are out of the city. I wish we could buy that cabin up in north central Pa somewhere. This pResident is so in over his head that he spends all his time on the golf course or fund-raising so he doesn’t have to deal with it. PLUS he doesn’t care/wants this country to fall anyway. He’s getting his way. The saudi prince who paid for his unearned degrees will reward him richly, I’m sure, for his part in destroying America.
And now they say that he knew about ISIS a YEAR AGO!
I agree about the podcast. Why can’t they do that? We couldn’t pick up WJAS at all yesterday. I don’t know what’s going on with Q&R and Iorio. I really don’t understand what’s going on.
And, if Q&R don’t come back, what happens to our daily thread? I look forward to chatting with my online FRiends every morning! I don’t want to close it down. I think that is a possibility we will have to look at unless we think up a different ‘theme’. :-(
Lets hope Q&R have something else up their sleeve.
Good morning!
Mornin’ everybuddy!
We could always take the “Prince” approach...
The THREAD Formerly Known As The Quinn and Rose Show THREAD.
And seriously, w/o even “looking” of my 1000 plus that I follow on Twitter (conservative Tea Party types) a dozen or so fill my time line w/links to their podcasts, reminders of their podcasts, suggestions that I log into their podcasts...etc.
Maybe WE should do our own podcast and link it from Twitter. We can be POD people!
Happy Wednesday all.
I think we can keep the thread. We’re still fans, whether or not they return.
Quinn was saying on twitter something about the company policy & no hard feelings - I think he was referring to iHeart.
I have been patiently waiting Q&R’s return. Having never lived in their home market, I only became a listener when their syndication came to my city. That syndication only lasted for about a year, as I recall, but I used internet streaming and remained a loyal listener for years.
The painful truth is that after these 9 months without, I have found a new internet-based radio show that in some ways is exactly like Quinn and in other is not. Quinn certainly tried to keep his topics national and would even apologize if the subject wandered into Pittsburgh/Western PA matters.
I tried Kuhner (in Boston) for a little while but he was a bit too local and I just didn’t have an ear for the dense New England vocal tone. It just wasn’t for me.
I finally hooked onto Milwaukee’s WISN, home of Rush fill-in Mark Belling. Their morning show host, Jay Webber, is excellent, carries an even vocal tone (with just a hint of outrage when the story warrants) and even though he too goes local more than Quinn ever did, the Wisconsin shift to the right under Scott Walker meant that even the local stuff tended to have national parallels or interest. (Think Walker Recall saga).
I guess my point is, if it takes too long to find a radio/media outlet for Q&R, their listenership will likely have moved on (as I have) and it will take a long, concerted effort to regain that following.
If they ever come back on the air, and if they have the podcasts, you can have the best of both worlds. For a long time, the lib IT guy blocked WPGB and so I downloaded the rest of the show from the podcasts. I got to listen to them at my leasure - and drive the IT guy nuts because I had a speaker set separate from my computer and he heard them when he came in! tee hee!! He finally gave up! lol! I’ll have to check out the guy in Wisconsin. Meanwhile, I’ll admit I’ve been listening to Jeff Kuhner in the morning. His voice doesn’t bother me any more!
Sounds to me like this was all about money.
If Q&R wanted to stream the show on a subscription basis
Iorio likely objected unless he got a piece of that action.
If Rose got stubborn about that it likely scotched the deal.
Yes, it does sound like it was all about money. Even with the firing from CC. I just wish Q&R would clear the air for their fans once & for all.
My Mom was/is a huge Q&R fan & she would come back to them, but she has semi moved on as well.
I listen to KDKA in the AM....I just got a smartphone and will probably download some of my other favs to listen to instead. (well, once I figure out how to activate the stupid thing ;)).
In the meantime, there’s no reason for this thread not to continue. We’re like minded people who enjoy chatting about everything from cars, traffic, gardens and miss the way our country used to be.
Hmm. www.warroom.com was updated. They took off the message about watching their website for updated info & the recorded message from Q&R.....
LAT via Drudge....sigh.
KFWB switching to all-sports format as AM radio fights for survival
AM radio, the scratchy medium that long ago aired Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s fireside chats, soap operas and the day’s most popular music, is trying to avoid becoming static.
Across the country, stations are vying to hold on to listeners as AM radio’s audience slowly dwindles. The persistent technology, long dwarfed by FM, has weathered more recent threats including satellite and Internet radio. It is also contending with a new assault from smartphones.
How long before AM radio disappears, if ever, is anybody’s guess.

NEW ON WARROOM!!!!!
Message From Quinn:
While on vacation it has come to my attention that a tweet of mine has caused some misunderstanding.
Upon re-reading it , I can see that it could be misleading. I wrote it
while I was in a rush and leaving for vacation(dont try this at home folks).
Please allow me to set the record straight:
Frank Iorio did indeed talk with us about doing the show on his station WJAS. He DID offer to stream it live on I Heart Radio. However, I desired to stream it exclusively on
Warroom.com.
In the end, It was my decision to take my brand; The Warroom in a different direction.
Streaming on I Heart did not fit into the business model I had in mind for the show.
We ended our talks amicably with each party wishing the other great success.
We sincerely wish Frank the very best. Rose has said on several occasions that Frank Iorio
rescued talk radio in Pittsburgh and gave it a home, and I agree.
As soon as I get back from vacation I will wrap up all the loose ends and have more
information for you in terms of the direction of The Warroom.
I hope I was able to clear this up for you,
Jim Quinn
Ha! You beat me :)
Was Quinn stalking our thread?!
Sure seems like it!
Going to take ne awhile to read between the lines.
FWIW in radio even those who get canned for ALMOST EVERYTHING leave with the same parting words. Faint praise and we wish everyone the best in their endeavors.
Have to think on this awhile but I’m kinda busy cooking.
