Not long ago, I watched a program by the Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan, about the Pit bull and about its American heritage and place in our homes and in our history.

Then, it's like everything changed and the pit bull's image and status were transformed and inverted into the opposite. It struck me that so much is like that for US now.

This sort of change is a common thread in our nation, national identity and culture, our ideals, symbols, you name it, all under a similar sort of dilution or polar opposite transformation.

After watching Cesar's program, I see the pit bull as both an example that Reagan's warning was correct and that he was an optimist. Never a generation away, best case.

It isn’t just an image issue. Breeding has a lot to do with it. The dog fight breeders have ruined the dog.
