Forget those Dos Equis commercials for most interesting man in the world. He's a commercial pilot, flying instructor, former radio show host, world-class fencer, author, screen writer, solo artist, and frontman for Iron Maiden, who will be known as one of the most important bands in rock history.

LOL — He might be interesting but IM was a itty tiny blip — closer to The Sweet in their importance.

IM worked mertarock but were riders on the train that started well before them and continued after.

Flash in the pan.

They were not “important” by any possible definition of non-sycophants.

Judas Priest was around before the NWOBHM. Where’s Praying Mantis or Diamond Head doing 3-year world tours? There’s Def Leppard, but what did they do for metal really? They got in on the arena rock train which died out for the most part in the 90s.

There have only been four metal bands: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Motorhead. Everyone else just copies them.

I was never a fan. Dickenson is an interesting guy none the less.

Black Sabbath with Ozzy, Black Sabbath with Dio. AC/DC, Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth,. All have their own significance.

When it comes down to vocal ability there can be only one.

I don’t much like metal and I’m not a Maiden fan, but:

1) The fact that they’re not in the RRHOF (along with Priest) is idiotic.
2) Bruce Dickenson is a genuinely fascinating guy. Maybe somewhat pompous, but he kind of has the right.

I dunno, the Sweet had the #1 UK spot for 8 weeks with "Ballroom Blitz", does Iron Maiden have anything like that?

I recently saw a video where he was flying a Fokker D1 replica in a simulated dogfight- right before Iron Maiden took the stage. THAT takes style! I absolutely love him...he’s not only a renaissance man, he’s very, very smart. Here’s the link...enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq9c78qsExU

I love Halford’s voice but he just can’t hit the notes the way that he used to. Dio maintained his voice very well, and it was magnificent.

Hard to believe Ronnie Dio was born in 1942. Said he never had any formal vocal training.

Saw 2 shows from the ‘Black and Blue’ tour (Sabbath with Dio along with Blue Oyster Cult) after the release of “Heaven and Hell’. A great album and concert.
