I had heard that mosquitoes were attracted to the color black. My friend and I were walking in the woods, she was wearing a black t-shirt and I was wearing a white one. Af the end of the walk her shirt had 50+ mosquitoes sitting on her back, my white one had none.

I can confirm your findings as true. Also, the primary mode of attraction is sensitivity to CO2. These fancy skeeter traps you see are primarily carbon dioxide generators... I am still awaiting someone to make on of these anti-mosquito "SDI" laser setups that there was a TED talk on. Part of my property is swampy woods with ponds of standing water from previous meanders of the creek that runs through the parcel... and MY GOD, the mosquitos are horrendous. 40% DEET works... I just hate having to put it all over me.
