What did I make up?
You seem a bit too emotionally involved.
At least he doesn’t get the blame for TAAB2.
(Just kidding. TAAB2 was okay.)
Everything. He wasn’t a hippy. He wasn’t a songwriter so whatever his politics they never showed up in the songs. He was gone from the band before they hit big, so he was never in the “corporate 70s”.
Every single thing you said was made up.
Nothing emotional in what I’m saying. Simply pointing out that you lied.
TAAB2 was trying too hard to replicate a one shot deal. It’s good, but would be better with more standalone. This year’s Home Erraticus is much better.
I asked, initially, and no one answered, how he made a living. no one answered.
I read his Wikipedia entry.
He continued in corporate band after band. None ever hit it big.
He was ensconced in the industry. Rock Star was his profession.
It’s an interesting life to be a rock musician. He probably also did session work.
How you think long-haired 60’s rock musicians aren’t hippies is puzzling. That’s pretty much one of the definitions of hippy.
He was asked to leave. Too much of a party animal.
His other bands were never big. He hung around the outside of the profession. You can make a living performing without being a big deal.
I KNOW not all long-haired people in rock were hippies because I have a brain and actually use it. Zappa had long hair, he hated hippies. Tons of folks then had long hair without being hippies.
The world is way bigger than you’re willing to bother to comprehend. You’re willfully ignorant at best.
Zappa was a total hippie. The epitome of hippie.
How was Zappa not a hippie?
Oh yeah, Moon Unit isn’t a hippie daughter name.
"My suggestion is go rent a Backhoe and pull your wadded up panties out of your a$$ crack!"
That has to be one of the TOP FAVORITE insult-suggestions I've ever seen...lol
Obviously, Tull isn’t your cup of meat. How did he support himself? He might have saved his money from playing music or inherited $$$ or perhaps he had an uncluttered lifestyle. I’d hardly call Tull a “corporate band” although Ian Anderson readily admits to financing and organizing his own tours, using the internet to find best prices but quality travel and hotel accommodations. He’s a lib, for sure, but has a soft spot in his heart for the U.S. military personnel, often donating time and talent to raise dollars for wounded soldiers. Listening to Tull/Ian Anderson is satisfying partly because he doesn’t rest on his backlog like so many bands do, and when he does play Aqualung, etal he often offers different arrangements. Thx for reading my rant. Go Ronald Reagan!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
He wasn’t a hippie because he spoke frequently and often about his hatred of the hippie movement. Once again you show you are willfully ignorant. Here’s some facts, which I’m sure you’ll ignore:
Describing his political views, Frank Zappa categorized himself as a “practical conservative”, or “independent”. He favored limited government and low taxes; he also stated that he approved of national defense, social security, and other federal programs, but only if recipients of such programs are willing and able to pay for them.[200] He favored capitalism, entrepreneurship, and independent business, stating that musicians could make more from owning their own businesses than from collecting royalties.[201] He opposed communism, stating, “A system that doesn’t allow ownership [...] hasto put it mildlya fatal design flaw.”[200]
Zappa later stated in 1978, “hippies were pretty stupid. [...] the people involved in [youth] processes [...] are very sensitive to criticism. They always take themselves too seriously. So anybody who impugns the process, whether it’s a peace march or love beads or whatever it is that person is the enemy and must be dealt with severely. So we came under a lot of criticism, because we dared to suggest that perhaps what was going on was really stupid.”[2]
Moon Unit is a goofy kid’s name, goes well with Dweezil, Ahmet Rodhan and Diva. When asked about the odd names for his kids he always said it was the last name that got them in trouble.
Let me see if I have this right, Being a long haired musician equals being a Hippie.
Sorry I don’t buy that. A lot of successful Long Haired musicians had corporate setups for their bands and some were really pretty smart business wise.
Yeah they were certainly some hippie music artists and some of them saw how capitalism worked and grabbed it.
Your painting a broad picture here and it isn’t true.
Thank you for your fine input.
“Let me see if I have this right, Being a long haired musician equals being a Hippie.”
Uh, yes.
Being a man with long hair in the sixties made you a hippie. Long haired musicians were super hippies.
It’s not hard to understand.
No it didn’t. Sorry you’re stuck in the world of narrow minded stereotypes but out here in reality lots of people had long hair that weren’t hippies. Some even had long hair and thought worse of hippies than you. As I already proved. You’ve been shown that you’re wrong and you keep saying the same wrong stuff. A willfully ignorant liar, pure and simple. You should go away now before you really embarrass yourself.
Exactly my point!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah.
In the 70’s everyone started growing long hair.
After it was common they weren’t hippies any more per se, or, everybody became a hippie. Caused our problems we have now.
But I was a kid in the 60’s. When we saw someone with long hair, that’s a hippy.
One of us had long hair in elementary school before it became ubiquitous. His last name was Hughes and we called him hippy Hughes.
Because males with long hair are hippies.
Here is a song about something

It is as simple as I am saying.
Are you two academics by any chance?
This is fun.
Who do you say were hippies?
Was Tiny Tim a hippie?
Was George Harrison?
The Monkees?
Crosby Crap Crud and Young?
Jimi Hendrix?
Abbie Hoffman?
Or who.
I’m partial to the fugue.
