James Foley was tortured by members of the militant Islamic State group who were modeling some of their techniques on those used by the CIA, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.
Foley was held by ISIS in Syria for nearly two years before his horrific beheading last week. The Post reported that, during that time, he and at least three others were "waterboarded several times."
Waterboarding became perhaps the most notorious method of torture practiced by American interrogators in the years after September 11th.
Interestingly, while the Post has, like most mainstream outlets, typically been reluctant to call methods such as waterboarding "torture" when it was practiced by Americans, the paper had no apparent problem calling what ISIS did to Foley "torture."

I’m guessing waterboarding goes back lonnnnnnnnng before the CIA.
So the US is at fault for his death? That is the implication.
I’ve been “waterboarded” and I’ll bet I’m not alone on here.
I’ve seen the pictures of what Sadaam’s boys did in Kuwait; The muzzies do not need torture tips from the CIA.
Surely you jest, Jack. Name me one newspaper or media outlet that didn't happily jump on the ‘America is torturing innocent people’ bandwagon.
I think the Post was too focused on the “underpants on the head” torture to make much of waterboarding.
Name the names or it's just liberal BS from the huffinandpuffington.Waterboarding may be uncomfortable, but one things for sure torture.......................having your friggin head hacked off. Has the U.S. done that?
I can’t find any evidence that that is true. Do you have a link to anything credible?
Blame the Democrats for forcing the techniques to be publicized.
The moral equivalence is strong with this one.
Who cares, the fuqer is (supposedly) dead. You can peddle your crafted warez elsewhere operative.
and I guess between the two...waterboarding and having your hed sliced off...I’d choose the waterboarding...
See - the United States and ISIS are exactly the same. :)

Im guessing waterboarding goes back lonnnnnnnnng before the CIA.
Chinese water Torture?
Yup, and the “dunk tank” and I’m sure about a hundred other watery techniques over the centuries.
Of course, the Huffington Post’s memory goes back only as far as George Bush.
Waterboarding goes back at least to the Spanish American War. US soldiers used it then. The fuss about topic at the Huffington Post shows that they a) are still fighting the last war against Bush and Cheney, b) that when ISIS does something wrong it is mitigated by the fact that the US may have done something the Left deems wrong. This is just sloppy thinking, though or a deliberate red herring. While the end doesn’t justify the means, surely there is some difference between the use of something like waterboarding to stop terrorism and waterboarding simply to be cruel, to be a terrorist. This is exactly why the moral equivalent crew is so shallow and their sophistries should be exposed. Those who make excuses for Putin similarly like those who offer up rationales for ISIS make no distinction between the use of force to stop cruelty and those who want to build a new empire for cruelty.
Actually, waterboarding has been around for many many centuries.
