Bryce Dion, a 38-year-old crew member for the series Cops was shot and killed by police in Omaha Tuesday night during the filming of an episode. A 32-year-old robbery suspect was also killed in the incident.
Dion was accompanying police responding to an armed robbery at a Wendys restaurant. The Omaha World-Herald reported that Dion was killed after three officers opened fire in response to shots the suspect, Cortez Washington, fired with an Airsoft pellet gun. Dion was wearing a bullet-proof vest, but was shot under the left arm in an unprotected area.
Dion was a seven-year veteran of the show. Originally from Lawrence, Mass., he lived in Santa Monica, Calif.
We are deeply saddened and shocked by this tragedy and our main concern is helping his family in any way we can, Langley Productions, the producer of Cops, said in a statement. Bryce Dion was a long-term member of the Cops team and a very talented and dedicated person. We mourn his passing. An investigation is ongoing and we are cooperating with local authorities.
He was certainly doing an exciting job when he died: http://www.news.com.au/world/north-america/cops-shooting-cameraman-bryce-dion-and-suspect-cortez-washington-killed-in-cruel-twist/story-fnh81jut-1227039853608
It appears that Cortez meanwhile eternally carries the responsibility for Dion’s death.
Unfortunately, somebody screwed up. Gotta watch that line of fire.
Why is someone shooting it out with the police with a pellet gun?
But definitely not the cops - no way, police should never be responsible for blazing away as wildly as possible. Gotta make it back to that donut..
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
Have they released the video? (I’m assuming there is one)
We mourn his passing.

Sounds like something you would hear about someone who died of old age.
That's the way it was in the old days. Now, with today's cops, I don't trust them to shoot accurately or at the right target. There are too many instances of cops “going postal’ when the situation was not warranted.
Question: If the cops shot the guy with the Airsoft gun, wouldn't they shoot the cameraman filming for the “Cops” TV show to hide the evidence?
cops
what a bunch of incompetent morons
Either it was a ricochet or one of the cops must have mistaken him for a dog!
Rest in peace. This reminds everyone how dangerous police work can be.
RIP.
