A narrow majority of Europes youth would ban cannabis, according to new research published by Eurobarometer.
Opinion was divided on whether cannabis should be banned. Forty-five percent believed that it should be regulated, while 53 percent felt it should be banned. Meanwhile, more than 90 percent of respondents added that hard drugs such as heroin, cocaine and ecstasy should be illegal.
Eurobarometer interviewed more than 13,000 15-24 year olds across the bloc in June for the survey, which was released on Thursday (21 August). It focused on levels of drug use, perceived risk of certain substances, as well as opinions on regulating drugs and dealing with drug problems in society.

This is very important because it is a known fact that to get an accurate accounting as to the world’s pulse on any current event, you seek out the opinions of young Europeans.
Good for them.
And good for the dealers.
I'm still trying to grasp in a casual way, never mind any kind of intimacy, the metric system.
Q: What do you say when someone asks you to call them a barometer?
I would say the average European youth is better informed than his American counterpart.
Based on what? The state has more control over information there than the US, still.
When you see state after state falling like dominoes all within the space of about a year and without any public identification of the protagonists, it’s a coordinated effort supported by elite “change agents.”
I think we're seeing some blowback from past zero-tolerance policies and overwrought propaganda. The farther you push a pendulum in one direction, the farther it swings back in the other.
No they don’t. And the level of education is better in Europe than the US at the K-12 level. I have lived a total of 13 years in five European countries and traveled to almost every country in Europe.
No they don’t what?
The state control over education and media in “Europe” is pervasive. Thanks to it, the belief that Israel is behaving like national socialists towards the “Palestinians” is ingrainedthe complete opposite of reality. That is not “better informed” at all.
The low information voter is in the majority in the US. How do you explain the election of Obama twice? Our schools have become indoctrination centers for the Left.
Americans Aged 18-29 Have A More Favorable Response To Socialism Than To Capitalism
Right . . . a continent where the people have no control over what the European central government does, because there is no separation of powers and the appointed politicians hold all the power, has its population “more politically engaged”. More active in the propaganda machine does not equal “more politically engaged”.
Dismissing their views of Israel speaks volumes.
In case you missed it, the EU and its powers are under criticism now from many countries including the UK and France. Farage and Le Penn are gaining in political power over immigration and the EU. The UK will be holding a referendum, if you believe Cameron, on whether the UK will continue to remain in the EU.
There are more politically divergent views in the parliaments in Europe than there are in the US Congress with the two major parties controlling the political agenda and dialogue. Both parties have abandoned the American worker and become surrogates of their corporate paymasters. They are two wings of the same party.
Our individual liberties are under assault with the bureaucrats holding sway whether it is the IRS, EPA, NSA, or the political elites. The vast majority of Americans believe this country is on the wrong track and the approval of Congress is at an all-time low. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Dismissing their views of Israel speaks volumes.
Actually, most of the world holds those views. We are Israel's principal supporter and protector. I don't have a problem with that, but to ignore the fact that Europe's views are not that much different than those held around the world is not being intellectually honest.
The UK wants to leave the EU (except Scotland apparently); the only “criticism” from France is out of a paltry few, and certainly not Front National or the Socialists. Apart from that, political disengagement is the norm.
My point is that “Europe’s” views of Israel are “not much different from” the so-called “most of the world”and that is the danger. Those views are based on lies and cannot be dismissed.
We do not live in a glass house. The glass house was built around us surreptitiously, and stones are one way out of it when the liberals are trying to lock us in. “Europe” helped in the building of said glass house.
Marine Le Pen: EU robbed us of all liberties, we should fight to get them back
The first thing that I will do is constitute a group in the European parliament to be able to prevent any new advances towards European federalism, which I consider to be profoundly anti-democratic. I believe that it goes against the sovereignty of the people and the economic, social, and international interests of France. So, along with our allies, we will now be able to provide a new voice, different from the one which dominates in the European union.
Sovereignty is the foundation of democracy. Without sovereignty, there is no democracy, because having the freedom to cast a ballot in a ballot box is one thing, but if the people you elected with your ballot have no power because the actual power was transferred to a supranational body, then we are no longer in a democratic process. And this is exactly what we are currently going through. I think it was in 1957, in the National Assembly, Mendès France said that there are two ways to establish totalitarianism either all of the powers are united together, or we transfer all the power to a supranational body. Well, that's exactly what they did by building the European Union they transferred the sovereignty of the people to a supranational body that is not elected, that has no legitimacy and that imposes its will on the people. This is true for our territorial sovereignty we are no longer in control of our immigration policy, since with Schengen all of our borders are open; this is true for our monetary sovereignty, since we are no longer in control of our currency; our budgetary sovereignty it has just been transferred to the European Union, but also our legislative sovereignty, since currently 80% of the laws which are voted in the French National Assembly are actually a transcription of European directives. Well, I consider that France is a free country and that it should stay that way. And since we were robbed of all of our liberties, we should fight to get them back from the hands of those that stole them without our knowledge and against our will.
The Le Pens are phonies. That is just pure populism. Like the rest of the EU elites, Marine is just fine with an alliance with Iran. (And that’s aside from how “Putin Today” may tend to twist her words.)
