I always cringe when I see passengers wearing flip flops or other types of similar footwear—the training always reinforced wearing adequate footwear in case you have to exit the aircraft other than the way you got on board.

They're wearing flip flops courtesy of your Muzzie terrorist friends. They don't want to have to remove their shoes while being scanned. I still wear shoes and take them off, but I'm sure that's why a lot of passengers wear flip flops.

No. It’s because society is low-class. Don’t give a damn about looking decent, only about “comfort” (which I hugely beg to differ on flip-flops or any sandals).
