The other half is the constant tuning that *somebody* demands, and the je ne sais quoi that attracted viewers is lost.
Part of that may be that the pilot was written by a real, high-priced veteran writer, and then after the contract is signed, the third string writers are brought in.
I agree that little guy with own language even David Chase inspirated to dream sequence with Tony Soprano on that
I figured it out before the end of the 1st season...then again, I was in college doing my internship under Professor Holmes @ UofL in Profiling Serial Murderers...
