I loved Tails of the Gold Monkey at the time. It lifted from
Raiders of the Lost Ark, was incredibly campy and had all sorts of cringe-worthy historical screw ups (it was 1938 and the lead character was a Flying Tigers veteran) but the overall premise was solid. Very similar (too similar?) to Firefly. But set in pre-WWII. And made with 80’s production values.

Of course years later I was channel surfing and came upon a Disney cartoon called “Duck Tales” and was like “Waaaaaaiiitttt a minute ...”

The show does not hide from our humanness and try to champion progessive nonsense about the nature of man and how God wired us. At the end of the day, in spite of all her training, the man she loved slept with someone else. The training was moot.

I did like that one. It was a great series, and it's been several years since I watched it on DVD. Gonna have to watch it again.

It was neat to see Adam Baldwin show up as a guest star on Fillion's new series "Castle".

Want to try to almost bankrupt NBC? Supertrain almost did.

I think half the problem with new shows is that the producers don't develop an outline beyond a half dozen epis or so, mostly because of the fickleness of suits (primarily at Fox...).

The other half is the constant tuning that *somebody* demands, and the je ne sais quoi that attracted viewers is lost.

Part of that may be that the pilot was written by a real, high-priced veteran writer, and then after the contract is signed, the third string writers are brought in.

The dialogue was simply genius. Case in point:

Kaylee Frye: Goin’ on a year now I ain’t had nothin’ twixt my nethers weren’t run on batteries!
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Oh, God! I can’t *know* that!
Jayne Cobb: I could stand to hear a little more.

"The end of the series left me cold, the villians were villians because they were afraid to cross the street by themselves and all they needed was somebody to hold their hand."

Outstanding analysis! The villains had powerful weapons and were almost impossible to defeat. But that struck me also, they didn't want to go somewhere else unless the original creations went with them.

There was a Canadian show about Afghanistan, Combat Hospital, that seemed pretty good from the couple of episodes I saw. IIRC it aired in the US on ABC.

I think a great alternate ending to Breaking Bad would have been Hal(from Freaks & Geeks)waking up in bed (AKA Bob Newhart) and saying he had a bad dream where he had become a drug dealer in New Mexico.

I loved the character development and really enjoyed seasons 3-5.

I kept watching and didn’t realize that seasons 9 and 10 were sub par until I bought the DVDs.

And the Two Ronnies. Ronnie Corbett played one of the zookeepers in Fierce Creatures.

Jericho???? That show was the most sophomoronic claptrap I’ve seen on TV since Roseanne was mercifully canceled.

“They just nuked Denver so let’s have a big community barbecue!”

Yeccccchhh.

When we first saw Firefly we thought, dang, where have we seen that Jane guy before?

Then we realized...If you want to see early Adam Baldwin, he’s the bodyguard in the movie, “My Bodyguard”. We have it on DVD. It’s actually a greate movie from around 1980.

If you can find the original model train from the series, it would be worth a lot. It was probably ordered destroyed or it is sitting somewhere forgotten and will for many more years.
