Antonio Smith liked to tease girls and show off his dance moves in front of his buddies. He loved playing football. Pretty much like any 9-year-old boy..

Wednesday afternoon, Antonio was found in the backyard of a house in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, shot in the chest, hands and arms. He died an hour later at Comer Children's Hospital, where his cousins were at a loss to explain why anyone would want to gun down the third-grader.

Instead, we will save the saturation coverage for an incident in which a white cop shoots a black man, quite likely justifiably, and twist a storyline to say that racism is the reason he got shot.

Almost all these cases are the result of poor shooting. If the thugs would learn to shoot properly they might start killing each other off. Instead they don’t know how to aim, the other thug doesn’t get a scratch and some innocent kid gets hit.
