Ya know, that one seemed like overkill from where I’m sitting.
The moral of the story.
Don’t bring a knife to a gunfight.
Obey the law.
How so? He had a knife, was acting very agitated, and was coming at them. If they hadn’t shot he could have easily stabbed the cop on the left.
Then you don’t know squat about what a skilled person can do with a knife in close quarters.

On a side note, the police DID "serve" his request and shot his ass.
Sorry, but if I am with my buddy who also carry's and this guy is taking a high ground offensive on him, I'm gonna make sure the knife wielder is down. Another couple paces and the guy could "superman" with that knife.
You can't cure stupid.
Shoot until the threat stops is SOP. The only questionable thing I saw on the video was the last two shots when the guy was already down on the ground. Unfortunately, the video resolution and size is not such where you can tell whether he still looked like he was going for another weapon or not.
That said - I really don’t think the last two mattered much at the point they were fired, not with all the other rounds that had already been pumped into him.
Public service message to all people, but especially black people:
When cops tell you to do something, do it. When cops tell you to stop doing something, stop doing it. When cops have their guns drawn, don’t make any moves that could be considered aggressive or confrontational. Just chill the f*ck out and let the situation calm down a bit. Being stupid means a trip to the hospital, the jail or the morgue.
And yes, I’ve had cops point their guns at me on a couple of occasions in my youth. I made no sudden movements, complied with their orders and made sure my hands were visible and empty of any objects.
I can’t see the video. The media is controlled and we are NOT free.

I really don’t have a problem with officers who choose to grant the request of people shouting ‘shoot me, shoot me.’ He literally asked for it, soo....
I wasn’t there and I’m not LEO. So disclaimers said, the police knew in advance they had a crazy with a knife. There were two LEO, one could have drawn a Taser and one a Glock, the Taser goes first and if that is not effective, the Glock ends the attack.
If there were one LEO then approach with gun drawn and shoot, but there were two.
With both of them with guns drawn they had no choice, and they had to shoot to stop the knife attack, they had a second to respond.

I’m not LEO either, but I have friends that are. A lot of departments have dropped the use of Tasers because they’re not a reliable weapon, sometimes people die when they get used and when it fails to stop, officers get hurt or die. Not to mention the media circus over the use of Tasers. Other departments chose not to buy them in the first place.
The moron narrator was HOPING for this. You can hear it in his voice. Then he acts all shocked.
Like I said, cops should go on strike in that area. They are damned no matter what they do. Let Eric Holder and the Black Panthers take over, see how much they like it. Or better yet, get the radical Muzzie B. Hussein to send his Muzzie brotherhood down there and start chopping off the hands of thieves. Let’s see how much they protest the cops then.

Intended or not. I don’t know what he said to the officers but I think the guy taking the video said he was crazy. Something was going on as the video guy said his friend told him something was going on at the market so he got his camera and went on down there.
Talking to one’s self in a public place is often a sign of mental problems.
