It would be nice to know whether the cops announced themselves to ensure the gentleman knew at whom he was firing.
Otherwise, if someone shines a bright light at me and chases me through the streets guns drawn, my trigger finger might get a little itchy too.

Yeah, those are fairly pertinent details in which the reporter apparently had little interest.
OTOH, it may have been a simple case of suicide by cop.
