There was also the positioning of the body, which was face-down.

My somewhat rudimentary understanding of physics says that if Brown was stationary (either standing or kneeling) or backing away the force of the hits would have put him onto his back.

However if he was charging, momentum would have continued carrying him forward despite the force of the shots. Putting him face down.

Does that make sense/sound reasonable?

exactly. His face down position indicates he was moving forward when shot.

Absolutely. It also tells me Brown’s head was down and he was charging the cop...hence the shot at the top of the head.
