Local markets know their local customers–that’s how they stay in business.
Ferguson Market & Liquor in the small town of Ferguson, Missouri is no different. In the case of this local market, fear of being murdered by their customers drives their business decisions—including deciding to not report being robbed to the police.
Likewise the Ferguson police decision to withhold for nearly a week the name of the police officer they say shot Michael Brown, Darren Wilson, in order to give him time to go in to hiding from the Ferguson lynch mob
KDSK of St. Louis reported an attorney for the owners of the market held a press conference Friday in which he wanted Ferguson Market & Liquor’s customers to know that the store did not snitch to the police about Brown robbing the store, nor did they offer the store’s surveillance video of the robbery to police.
The Washington Post reported Sunday that the store manager is terrified of being murdered by the store’s customers.
“The convenience store where the robbery took place was boarded up, but open for business on Friday. A store manager, who declined to give his name, said he fears for his life and pleaded with reporters not to suggest that he called police.
““It’s very dangerous,” he said. “They kill us if they think we are responsible. People don’t understand that.””

My earlier comment on another posting was “What was like in Ferguson before the shooting?”
This store owner did not report the crime, a customer did. So a customer steals and roughs you up when you try to stop him and you fear retribution if you report the crime?
His decision not to report the crime was before the shooting.
Time to withdraw.
Do t worry the police will be there to protect you. Really they will, might take a couple weeks but they’ll get tbere.

Rollup doors like they do in 3rd world countries. The manager should find another line of work and move out of state.

Brown is obviously guilty of ethnic intimidation and needed extreme diversity training.
A lot of those stores don’t ring up cash sales, thereby not reporting revenue and saving income and sales tax. They pay help under the table, saving worker’s comp and payroll taxes. They accept food stamps at a 50% discount rate for tobacco and alcohol purchases.
I’m not saying this particular business does this, but that is how a lot of businesses make it in those neighborhoods.
IOW, they were thugs before the incident.
GOOD...GOD...ALMIGHTY!
This nation is *so*...fornicated.
Move out.
Businesses will have to move out of this area now. This is how places become “food deserts”. Businesses cannot sustain the losses and the cost of security (not to mention insurance).
Why risk your life to run a business in an area like this? You can’t possibly be making enough money to take that kind of risk.
I’d be a janitor in a better part of town rather than own a business in a dangerous area.
Decision: Time to get outta Dodge.
Was his store looted a few days later?
