Picked most of the pears this week. Mr. squirrel thinks I raised the fruit for him, so I spoiled his play. Take a bite or two out of one pear and start on another one.

Garden is burned up with the 100+ temps. With once a week watering, I just can’t keep veggies growing all summer.

That’s what happened to us during that extra hot and dry summer. Rain barrels which usually got us through the hottest months were all out of water by end of May. So we had to haul water in for the perennials, and just let all the rest go.

Now we have the swimming pool, and the rain barrels so that we can keep on going with most stuff, and get a good crop of the basics at least.

We’re in Cat 4, can’t water gardens, lawns or wash cars. Yesterday and the day before we had great days, early a.m. was around 63 around 1400 it was 82, no humidity. But today we’re back to the Dog Days of August. Hmmmm. Fall and winter will be arriving soon.
