According to the Polish sister of Bob, she chooses long beets type to grow for canning and round beet types for eating fresh. She uses the same method for sweetness as the grandfather did.

Bob said, according to his grandfather’s method to make sweet veggies, put a tablespoon of Boric Acid around the young plant grown from seed.

I’ve heard that beets do well with extra boron. I have some Borax in the basement. I’ll give it a shot.

Thank you for looking into that.

I’m of Polish and Ukrainian descent and know what both sides can do with a garden. They had a way with plants.

Those folks from the old country really knew their stuff and I wish now that I could go back and learn it from them. Sadly, it was lost in my parents generation so I’m trying to learn the stuff the hard way.

That’s so nice to have help cleaning. When I started driving back and forth to St. Louis to work (75 miles away)my Grandma pulled me aside, and told me to get a housekeeper.

She said there’s no way you can do all that needs to be done on the job and with your family unless you have one.

She was right, and it was great. Can’t afford one at present, but some day, when I get older, I am hoping we can. Guess it depends on how bad inflation gets at this point.

I am still on XP. I say an advertisement on TV today that said they supported XP. I can’t remember the name. I think it was PC-Matic.

I wonder if I would be better off to check that out.

Lots of us doing that now. My parents lived in town on a quarter acre lot. We had a pear tree and lots of roses.

I learned a few things from my paternal grandparents, but boy I wish I could go back and learn a few more.LOL
