Obama: ‘We Broke the ISIL Siege of Mt. Sinjar’

President Obama said today the military and humanitarian assistance to protect an Iraqi religious minority group under siege by a terrorist organization had been a success.

The airdrops delivered more than 114,000 meals and 35,000 gallons of fresh water to the Yadizis, Obama told reporters at a news conference during his vacation on Martha’s Vineyard.

The Yazidis faced “a terrible choice” -- starve on the mountain or be killed by ISIL terrorists on the ground. “That’s when America came to help,” Obama said.

“The bottom line is: the situation on the mountain has greatly improved and Americans should be very proud of our efforts,”Obama said, adding “I could not be prouder of the men and women of our military who carried out this humanitarian operation almost flawlessly.”

Following the advancement of the terrorist group ISIS toward the Iraqi city of Erbil, President Obama last week authorized a series of targeted airstrikes which he said successfully eliminated some munitions stockpiles and helped protect American interests from attacks.

The president has insisted that there is “no American military solution” to the crisis in Iraq and has promised not to send ground troops back into combat. It was “unlikely” that air drops would need to continue and assessment teams would leave Iraq “in the coming days," he said today.

Are the Yadizis still on the mountain, surrounded by savages?

The terrorist group id referred to as ISIS and as ISIL within the same article. I’ve also seen others use simply IS to describe them.

Does anyone, including the group itself, know their real name? (apart from “islamic savages”)

Has this idiot gone completely off his rocker?????? I don’t care how many pounds/gallons of aid they dropped, how does he know it was even utilized and not smashed into the ground on landing? Can anyone be this stupid? Is it possible? OK - a few flights went up, dropped stuff off and now he can wipe his hands of it?? Pontius Pilate? The people may have gotten a little water to quench their thirst or wash their face and a few nibbles of food to satisfy them for 5 minutes.

Now I order the coverage of this genocide to cease. I have vacation things to do and more important things are waiting for my attention - like the local golf course or local ice cream shop.

Someone, please, please rid of this nincompoop!

So how do we find out what really happened, and whether these people are now safe?

With apologies to Neil Young:

Oh, to die on Sinjar Mountain
With water bottles and Iraqi platoons,
You can't be Christian on Sinjar Mountain
Though you're thinking that
You're not leaving there too soon,
Not leaving there too soon.

Since Obama said the operation was a success, I’m assuming most of the Yadizis are dead and that the survivors are still trapped on the mountain, surrounded by IS thugs, with little food and water and no weapons.

OK - a few flights went up, dropped stuff off and now he can wipe his hands of it?? Pontius Pilate?

It was enough to reassure the few remaining Traditional Democrats in his base that he is an Actual President (R) and not a Manchurian Candidate, as dark rumors had begun to attest. Those Democrats can resume their slumber, now, until the Revolution finally overwhelms them.

And IS (Islamic Savages) are free to commit genocide with US equipment another day.

Beyond disgusted.

This is so sickening. This would be like FDR declaring in 1944 that Hitler wasn’t the bad person he was made out to be and there really wasn’t any need of the U. S. getting involved to save Europe. Thank God this creep wasn’t our president at the time. We are seeing a person who is going to promote genocide all over Iraq and the rest of the ME go forward without lifting a hand to kill the beasts and take credit for dropping some water and food to helpless women, elderly folks and children fleeing butchers.

The air strikes could have been done when they were all out in the open desert. Nope - the idiot in chief had to THINK about his actions first....How many of my brethren am I likely to hurt is the extent of his thinking.

Welcome to the club, Mr. obama. The club of white American presidents you so despise for using American military might to “meddle” and to force our moral beliefs onto other countries and cultures. Ironic, don’t you think?

Typical, then: Obama either ignoring or obstructing the aid efforts, and then very publicly taking credit for the work somebody else did.

Is there a more despicable person on the planet?
