With the PGA Championship running long, CBS shuffled its schedule around on Sunday. With Rory McIlorys dramatic win, the 3 PM 9 PM PGA Championship earned a 6.0/13 in household ratings thats the best the golf coverage has done since the 7.5/17 result of 2007.

Rory Mcilroy is the new Tiger Woods.
Just hope he doesn’t self-destruct like Tiger did.
I believe the Tiger Woods era is officially over. If he ever comes back, it will be as a shadow of his former self. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
What is certainly over is his dominance of the sport. His run between 1997 and 2008 arguably rivals anyone in history.
I, too, dislike him intensely for his off-course (!) lifestyle.
The sport has matured around him. When he does come back, he will be just one of 10 or 12 or more great golfers. Rory is certainly rocketing to the top. We’ll see how he handles it.
Rickie Fowler has had a very understated run, and it truly couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Last four majors - two, seconds, one third, and one fifth. With a few breaks in those 16 rounds, he may well have had a grand slam.
Sorry to see what happened with Dustin Johnson, but the bench in golf is now very deep, and very international. Every major European country now has a player or two that could win any tournament, anytime, anywhere. The Aussies are strong and deep, and several Asian countries have competitive players as well. The South Africans are strong and deep as well.
Golf may have needed Eldrick 10-15 years ago. It doesn’t anymore.
Like him or hate him, they know that Tiger still brings in the ratings and money, but that may have changed yesterday.
Course was waaay to easy for a MAJOR...
It is for today’s pros who are playing well with today’s equipment. However, a good 5 handicapper would probably have difficulty breaking 100. Nonetheless, it still made for a good tournament regardless of the scores. It’s still a major. What I don’t like is the US Open, where the course looks like a brown toxic waste dump won by some no name.
I believe his kindergarten teacher who said that it never happened.
You just named my top 3:
Rory
Phil
Jordan
I like Fowler, Scott, etc. but I was wanting a playoff between Phil and Rory.

And will not get any accolades from MSM because of... well you know.
Incredibly, Rush Limbaugh at one time got sucked into Woodsmania. In 2000, he devoted all three hours of one of his shows to praising Woods.
It would be interesting to see the hourly breakdown of the tournaments coverage by CBS.
There had to be millions of people tuning in at 7 and 8 PM, looking for their regular programs, and just sticking around until the tournament ended, hoping that their programs would soon come on.
I soured on Tiger early on when he let Fuzzy Zeller twist in the wind for a “joke” that was made regarding the Champions dinner menu at the Masters. Fuzzy lost tens of thousands in sponsorships because of Tiger. It told me something about the man.
Lots of ifs. Tiger’s back problems are his own doing — his violent swing. It seemed inevitable to me that his body wasn’t going to hold up long-term with that kind of swing.
Tiger was only 4 strokes higher than Rory in the 2000 US Open.
If they'd played the same course, a week earlier, the winning score would be 5-8 shots lower. I have no doubt. The greens were wet and soft all week.
Still though... it made for EXCITING golf.
When a guy hits a 282 yard 3 Woood to 7' from the pin? He deserves a shot at an eagle.
BTW>>> I've played Valhalla twice.. haven't broken 100 yet. And I was carding a 13 at the time.
Many viewers tuned in at 8 pm for Big Brother and= waited only to learn 60 minutes was airing first.. Twitter trended a comment when Big Brother finally began at 10 pm.
It wasn't set up as a championship venue...nut maybe that's what the PGA wants..they want to be the anti-US Open.
FYI..I got to play Bethpage Black in 2002, a few days after the Open, and just before they started restoring the course to normal. You can't imagine what the rough is like at an Open..until you disappear into it...I will NOT tell you my score...however..I will tell you that I went through 17 balls that round...admittedly we were playing under rules to not spend more than 2 minutes looking for a ball..
LOL. The first time I played Valhalla, I shot a 103... the rough that time was SEVERE! If you hit a ball into the rough, the forecaddie (Thank GOODNESS for them) would tell me to “bring and 8 Iron”.... no matter how far away I was.
The second time, I shot 101. That was a week before they closed the course for the Ryder Cup and they had dramatically lowered the rough.. to help the American team. I should have scored a LOT better that day, but....I was in the midst of “Shanking Crisis” with my irons... extremely frustrating.
In a 7 day span, I played Pebble Beach, Spyglass, and Valhalla.... The whole time, I was BOOMING my drives, chipping and putting very well.... and, even hitting some quality iron shots. But, about 1 out of 5 irons would shoot STRAIGHT RIGHT! It was scary.
I like the US Open for what it is. But, I don’t think every Major has to be that way. The Master’s sure wasn’t... before the last course ‘upgrade’. Now? It’s the most boring tourney of the year.
Valhalla's on my bucket list.I've played Pebble Beach twice..first time you're in a daze..just pinching yourself that you're actually here...
Having liked in Westchester for much of my life..I've played Westchester CC often..both courses..but my favorite..and I've only played it three times..is Winged Foot...it's just gorgeous...US Open is coming back there in 2020..
We had a time share for 20 years in Bermuda..spent a week there every August in the 80's and 90's...and the old Castle Harbor course..was my annual downfall...several holes along the water.. 50+ feet above the ocean..I once hooked 4 in a row into the Atlantic...then picked up the 9 iron...
Forgot to ask..you agree there’s NO way Tiger makes yhe Ryder team..?
Thanks. In all the discussions I have heard about his back problem, I never heard it’s cause spoken of. I had assumed it came from some kind of injury unrelated to his golf activity.
