More than a third of all respondents said they were worse off financially than five years ago. Another third said that they were doing about the same.
Only 10% of respondents felt they were doing much better than they had been in 2008, highlighting the dual nature of the recovery. Twenty percent more said they were somewhat better off.
Most households surveyed didnt complain much about their finances. Sixty percent said they were either doing okay or living comfortably when asked how they were managing financially.
Meanwhile, many respondents said credit was hard to come by. Nearly one-third of those who had applied for some type of credit in the 12 months prior to the survey either got less than they had applied for or were turned down flat.

Not better off? You mean decimated. Savings wiped out by job losses and higher prices and now Obamacare. Constitutional rights infringed and under attack. America under assault by terrorists and illegal immigrants... Sure everything’s just peachy...
Shouldn’t that be After five years of recession?
I was at Zillow website and looked up an area about 5 miles from by Minneapolis (55422 zip) and saw in an area about 5 x 5 miles 807 homes listed for sale. Many more if I widen the view.
You would think the economy was bad or something.
This was “unexpected”.
Warren is going turn the current brand of socialism into full-fledged national socialism. You can already hear her steering it in that direction. Economic patriotism and loyalty oaths? The so-called “liberals” and the party elites are already goosestepping to her tune.
When she gets elected, the powder keg goes boom. We’re going to see ugly on scale previously unimaginable.
She’s wicked bad.
The recession might be “over” on paper through fraudulent government accounting and shell games, but it’s definitely still on in real America. People can’t find work, people stuck working beneath their abilities, people forced to work part-time because of regulations, businesses afraid to hire because of government interference, and the list goes on and on...
Let the federal government get off everyone’s neck and we’d see an explosion of employment and a real recovery.
The way things stand now, I’m feeling super lucky to be working and have been blessed with working for a conservative boss that let’s me put in overtime. Oh, and we’re busy because we process foreclosure reports. I guess getting foreclosed on can mean a household isn’t “better off”, huh?
This administration is nothing but a big lie and the media lap it up like manna. Disgusting!

Just the way the liberals want it. People being better off leads to less dependency on them.
A recession as measured by vaporous numbers ended but the Second Great Depression continues.
