WHY DO PEOPLE THINK JOHN KERRY IS SMART?

Posted on 08/05/2014 9:40:31 AM PDT by 7thson

From this topic - "What did Kerry just say?" - henkster states " Sure, he likes big government, and that’s no surprise. I don’t read too much into this. Consider the source. Kerry is just rambling because he likes to sound like he’s saying something profound. It’s more proof, as if any were needed, that he’s an idiot. The purpose of this conference is to convince African leaders of that, if they didn’t already know.

A couple days ago on BORs program, Brit Hume makes the statement that Kerry is a smart guy. I hear this all the time from other people about other people. Obama is smart, Hillary is smart, and so on.

Why do these pundits believe these people to be smart? You listen to Kerry and he sounds dumb as a rock. Hillary sounds stupid too with some of her statemetns. Now Brit Hume seems to have it together so why would someone like hime believe Kerry - and others - to be smart?

A real good answer and I do get what you say. Why can’t we - republicans/conservatives - find someone articulate and/or glib enough to counter these fools. Where the hell is someone like Ronald Reagan? Everyone knows that Romney had a clear, clean verba; shot at Obama during the second debate. He backed off and backed off further in the third debate? Why? Is this crap like professional wrestling where the outcome is scripted in advance? It sure seems that way. Anyone listening to Obama knows that he sounds incoherant when he rambles off script. That he gets anry when challenged. But no one does. It is frustrating to the point of exploding.

I have often lamented here that we have elected quite a number of Conservatives who are flat out stupid. And we have. We often think that someone just supporting what we want is “OK by us”. That is a HUGE mistake. We need to elect conservatives but we need to elect smart conservatives.

My point is, I’ve got ZERO problem weighing in on intellect. Kerry is a friggin’ idiot. How he didn’t literally shoot himself in the foot 3 or 4 times is beyond me.

While I went to a very good law school I also litigated against some lawyers from very good law schools. I learned early on that your degree from [pick a big school] has not a whole lot to do with your level of intellect.

He speaks with an affectation to try to impress people to make them THINK he’s smart. By now, tho, it’s no longer an affectation; it has become him. I doubt he has an IQ much above average. But he’s high on haughty. And he sure does know how to “marry well.”

It is the MSM that is the source of that particular falsehood. The MSM has a very simple IQ test: IQ for liberals starts at about 125 and increases rapidly with increasingly foolish beliefs in the false principles of Marxism.

Sean Penn, Ben Affleck and Scarlett Johannsen did not get into Yale & Harvard. No matter what we want to say about Ivy league schools, you need pretty good grades to get into these universities. This is especially true for Princeton or Brown. However, there are a FEW movie stars that are pretty smart: James Woods(MIT dropout to pursue acting is a certified genius IQ of 180), Dolph Lundgren(received Fulbright Scholarship to MIT-IQ 160), Jodie Foster(Yale grad, IQ 132), Natalie Portman(fluent in five languages, Harvard grad), Geena Davis(Mensa member, IQ-140), Quentin Tarantino(IQ 160) and Steve Martin (IQ-142).

We never hear the IQ levels of our presidential contenders. However, with the exception of the current occupant of 1600 PA Avenue, we usually know the SATs and see their GPAs.
I do not think that Kerry ever released his SAT scores when he was running against Bush. It was rumored that they were 1190. Not very high by todays standards, but SAT scores were lower in the 1960’s. AN 1190 SAT makes him above average, but not as “smart” as Al Gore or Bill Clinton. His score was about the same as George W. Bush(SAT 1206). Even
though Billy boy is a scum bag. He is a really smart scum bag. He was a Rhodes Scholar and attended Oxford. Not bad for trailer trash. Al Gore had SAT scores totally 1355. We
know he is smart enough to pull off the biggest scam maybe in the last 50 years. Charles Ponzi would be proud.

Corrct me if I am wrong but don’t you have to complete the program to be a Rhodes Scholar? If that is the case, than WJC is not a Rhodes Scholar. Which makes another lie stated numerous times to make it true.

Kerry is rather average but he does have SOME good genes since he is a Forbes and Winthrop on his mother’s side. He had a grandfather who was Speaker of the House in the 1800s.

Still though, it seems that the dolt gene has prospered over the generations.

‘Then why did those idiots keep voting for the idiot?’

Voting Dem was, as best I could tell, a cultural thing. Dems might not be that great [from a MA POV] but Republicans were always considered worse. Even so, iirc, Kerry had a couple of somewhat close races. He wasn’t considered to be in the same league as Kennedy. Nevertheless, in a culture as steeped in Dems-good/GOPers-bad as MA, a mediocre D-Senator was considered better than the alternative.

Notice all that finally changed, however, with Scott Brown. It was largely an anti-Obamacare vote, & historically Martha Coakley has been an awful candidate. (She is the one who said the seat belonged to Kennedy, to which Brown came back with ‘no; it belongs to the people of MA’. She was the gift that kept giving that way; one gaffe after another.) Still I think Brown could have held it if he’d been less squishy once elected. The way he voted & then campaigned, the people of MA had a choice between a true Dem & a fake Dem. They went w the fake Indian, sadly.

My son’s gf worked for Kerry. Every morning the staff came to work fearing that one of his “liaisons” of the night before had spilled the beans to the press. Or that he’d had a Chappaquiddick incident. They “wanted to run him for president but were afraid to because he was such a lecher.” He liked underage girls, they told me.

There is a similar, maybe related, phenomenon where people are talking about some barbarian murderer and they refer to him as a gentleman.

“This gentleman allegedly shot 10 unarmed people.”

> Natalie Portman(fluent in five languages, Harvard grad)

Is that the truth or their PR firms saying this?...lol
The reason I say this is that I find that the word, “fluent”, to be a very loosely term with the attention getting crowd when checking their backgrounds. Some in that crowd seem to think a vocabulary of 500 words means “fluent”...lol
