And even if true what about the 20th century hygiene practiced in our inner cities? The amount of ignorance on this site is astounding.

All those studies of how many people don't wash their hands after using the restroom should come in handy right about now. And how about all those snot nosed little kids in poopy diapers sitting in the grocery cart right where most people put their fresh produce. Everytime you watch a cooking show on tv, there's a chef dripping sweat dripping onto the food or wiping off his forehead with the same towel he cleans up the plate with. As if the pimpled faced teen at the burger joint even thinks about washing his hands after popping a zit or two at the counter. How many times has someone wiped his nose, coughed into his hand, scratched his sweaty under arm or backside right before shaking hands with someone? But, yeah, Americans are so clean... not. Moreso than some African bushman maybe but still far from sanitary.

Several years ago Texas had another fright when some monkeys at an ebola lab got loose or something. Similar thing also happened in VA. Security is never 100%.

I hope God forgives me for saying this, but I am SICK of AIDS being given all the attention while disease like Ebola are given short shrift. Unless there is rape or medical malpractice, people who get it often bring it upon themselves (unless there is marital infidelity via a spouse) through their own lifestyle choices.

If the Nigerians killed him to prevent him from spreading it, this is one thing I find highly admirable about the Nigerians. More than makes up for all the scams going around.

The second wave is the most lethal; if we’re in the first wave still, we haven’t seen anything yet, I’m sure of it.

I agree with you.

There are too many unknowns with this virus.

If there are any cases in the US, would our government try to keep it from us, or would they be upfront, so that we could take precautions and try to protect our families? I think we know the answer.

That’s entirely possible.

They don’t stand for much foolishness.

H5N1...yeah we all took that seriously. Recall the panic the government tried to set off? Now they are keeping things quiet? Why? It does not play well into the border crisis.

H1N1 should have been taken seriously. It was a significant problem.

This is a trait I find admirable in Africans, once things start getting bad, they aren’t afraid to take any action needed to protect themselves and their interests.

Yes, my son [likely] had H1N1 and was sick for over a week. He was completely laid out, which was so unusual for him, and his recovery was slow. The clinic wouldn’t even allow me to bring him in. They diagnosed him over the phone, so it wasn’t an official lab diagnosis, but half his class of 37 (small charter school) were home sick as well, and some severely. I knew of a couple people that also came down with it, were hospitalized and nearly didn’t make it. I remember hospital emergency rooms were constantly packed.

Even though most people recovered, it still was very scary.

I cannot even imagine an outbreak of Ebola in the US. Yikes. I am praying that it doesn’t happen here, and that the current strain dies out without further deaths. :^(

But wait ... Africa isn’t there anymore. They all died from AIDS. Remember? We all KNEW that was coming. And it wiped out the Czech Republic, Thailand, Russia ...

After all our gays and promiscuous heterosexuals died in the ‘90s, there were still a few million left to die from the Bird Flu. And the Swine Flu. And the mutated Spanish Flu from 1918 that came back. And the dreaded Monkey Pox! And the other scares that I don’t remember.

Those idiot hijackers on 9/11 died in vain. All you need to do to terrorize Americans is say “Boo!”

I hope I am wrong and this is not a problem. And I did not say it would wipe out America. But as I said before, there is an overabundance of people with their head in the sand We are overdue for another pandemic, and like it or not it is coming - whether Ebola or something else. I hope you do not find out the hard way what a true pandemic will do to our way of life. But you knew that

How then did the doctors who they are bringing to Emory university for treatment get it?
They were wearing all the protective gear, had all the decontamination procedures, they were the ones in charge...

simply a random thought-as i can’t prove IT but I was wondering the same as many, how did it happen when they were all geared up etc ? —could they have been intentionally infected as they were in charge the same way researchers are “dying” throughout the years or didn’t a planeload of them go down as well ?
and no i’m not into cONspiracies but something’s wrong here and don’t they say that epidemics come OUT from the cities and not into them ?
wasn’t this epidemic inbound from the rural areas ?
just a passing thought and of course can easily tolerate all and any impatient with such thoughts unproven.
