You're absolutely correct, based on the article the young ladies did zip wrong, were guilty of nothing and they knew that. I'm not familiar with this case, but it appears when swarmed upon by armed people who apparently were not in uniform, they had just seconds to make a decision.
I'd say the young ladies were lucky several dozen rounds were not punched through their vehicle...
Crazy days..
Regrettably.
You are clearly ignorant of the facts of this case. Respectfully suggest you read up before commenting further.
If you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
...If you arent in uniform, dont be stupid enough to expect us to know youre a cop. ...

Overall good posting, LF! If some a-hole jumps on the hood of my car with a gun as I’m leaving a convenience store he will need some first aid from his spill onto the cement, unless he’s a Bruce Willis-type from some action movie that puts 3 shots through my face first.
The question will be Have you ever been arrested?
************************************
As I recall from my working years, the question was “Have you ever been convicted of a felony?”.
This is what the young lady purchased. But nice try.
“Exactly. Supposed they HAD bought beer. Is it now OK to shoot people for illegally buying beer?”
The issue isn’t shooting them over beer. If someone offers deadly force to a cop stopping them, the original crime is not relevant.
But undercover cops don’t seem to get it. I’m not offering deadly force to a cop making a lawful stop. In my mind, I’m killing a rapist/mugger/killer. Even if I’m guilty of the crime, you’re anything but a cop to me. Take the blue colored glasses off and examine yourself from outside.
The issue of their aggressiveness come how small the crime was. Is underage drinking worthy of that initially aggressive response? Is the world going to end because they get away?
“unless hes a Bruce Willis-type from some action movie that puts 3 shots through my face first”
The problem was they thought they were Bruce Willis. In their minds, this was the bust of their career. Who gets that excited over catching kids with beer?
Flipping thrill seekers with badges. Take up base jumping, mountain climbing, or bear hunting with a bow. Don’t get your excitement on the streets. I’m not your entertainment.
Maybe you should read up on the incident before you make an uninformed comment about it. This was quite a bit more than a simple “arrest”. Virginia ABC agents, who were not in clearly marked uniforms, ambushed a group of college girls late at night in a shopping center parking lot, shouting at them with guns drawn, etc. The driver understandably feared for her life, locked the doors of her vehicle and fled the scene. She was pulled over by a Charlottesville police officer several miles away, who was responding to a BOLO, and placed her under arrest. She spent the night in jail, and was bonded out the next morning. Upon learning the facts of the case, and undoubtedly reacting to the public uproar about it, the Commonwealth's attorney subsequently dropped all charges against the girl.
The ABC Board and the officers involved have emerged from this horrifying incident unscathed. The officers, especially, are fortunate that they targeted a group of young girls on a late-night shopping trip rather than a car full of weapon-carrying good ol’ boys back in town from a hunting trip. The result could have been a full-on shootout in a busy shopping center.
And my answer is usually: "Convicted? No sir/ma'am"
