Since when was quinoa been an “upscale” food? As a serious home cook, quinoa has been a standing joke of mine long before it was featured as such in the popular beer ads.

The “taste” (and I use that word loosely) of quinoa makes the flavor of grits seem like one is dining on truffles.

Quinoa was a staple of the ancient Incans. My wife wanted to try it. I picked some up for her. She and our daughter made some kind of dish out of it. I tasted it.

Now I know why there are no more Incans.

Haven’t had truffles, but a big serving of grits, with butter, salt and pepper, is fantastic when accompanied with country fried ham, about 3 eggs and a couple of pieces of toast with butter and jelly! Grits are good!
