I came across a "recent" Holmes screen treatment. In a minor subplot, some artiste wants to have a child by Holmes, and he gets out of it by alluding that he and Watson are lovers. Watson was not amused.

That would the Billy wilder's The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. It's recent, if you regard 1970 as recent. You must be as old as I am.

Well, "recent" compared to the Rathbone era.

I found an archive of the various radio adaptations a while back, but they admittedly got old, the same stories being reworked every 10 years or so up until the 1960s.
