I’m sure I could think of more, but three off the top of my head that I enjoyed:

JOHN ADAMS—the best mini series ever made IMO—supremely interesting from start to finish
Madada with Peter O’Toole and Peter Strauss
Chiefs with Brad Davis, Keith Carradine, and Charlton Heston

Roots is great, especially if you watch it backwards so it has a happy ending.
