Things are going well for NASCAR's top team, Hendrick Motorsports, which includes some of the sport's top drivers, including Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. But a closer look at the value and profit of the other top teams reveals a sport that is trending in the wrong direction.

According to Forbes.com and its valuations of NASCAR's top nine teams, the current value of Hendrick Motorsports ($348 million) is relatively unchanged since 2010 ($350 million). However, the average team has seen a 31.1% drop in profit since 2010 which has translated into an average team value of $139.7 million, down 16.4% during the same span.

This dash cam video shows the 1.6 Liter MR2 chasing 5.7 Liter Corvettes on open track day. The car is street legal and a rush to drive. 255 RWHP in a 2500 pound car. Twin cam 4 valve engines have a 2000 Rpm advantage. We hit 131 MPH on one lap.

You’re joking, but NASCAR is looking for its very own Michael Sam.

“NASCAR is a community made up of people from every walk of life. Our employees - regardless of their race, age, national origin, gender, ethnic background, sexual orientation, faith or physical abilities - do an outstanding job of helping to bring the best racing in the world to our fans every week and that is what matters. It’s a stated goal for our sport to reflect America’s diversity. Exclusion or intolerance of any kind - whether behind the wheel, on pit road, or in the garage - is not part of that philosophy.” — official NASCAR statement.

Right now the money is on Evan Darling.

Those too! I just can’t afford a McLaren. Yet.

In our little corner of rural NWGA we had an open First Saturday night in a long time and were able to catch the monthly car show in the "downtown". Always alot of great restored (and some not-so-restored) USA car flesh.

While we were there a couple drive up in a 2014 McLaren. Even the hard-core Chevy/Ford/Dodge/etc domestic guys stopped what they were doing and gawked.

Had no idea...

Great uncle, Briscoe Darling, Jr. would be horrified..."We're known as a family of hearty-eatin' men and beautiful, delicate women."

I see it this way. What other sport can last three hours, go 500(or more) miles, and at the end of the finish 1st and 2nd place are less than half a second between them.

Anything else is just a game!

You are, of course, correct.

Up until just a few years ago refueling in F1 was allowed (I hope it comes back...) and pit stops were 4.5 seconds. Lug nuts are hard to do...

A good NASCAR team can run two cars and drivers for about $30,000,000 for a year - NO small chunk of change.

F1 requires $400,000,000 to have two ‘fair’ cars.

The technology difference is astounding.

Example: F1 transmissions have eight forward gears plus reverse, can withstand 900 HP and are mandated to last five races are smaller than a football and can weighs less than 40 pounds.

Accelerating at four G’s, turning and breaking at up to five G’s. It’s a different game altogether.

Tune into CNBC Sunday (EARLY!) to watch the F1 race in Hungary - you will be amazed by the quality of the commentary (the best in the sports world - not my observation but the opinion of the sports world) and lack of tasteless commercials.

Give it a shot!

Have a wonderful Friday and a fantastic weekend!

Give it a shot!

Already have the DVR set to record. I've been watching F1 since the Monaco race this year. So far, I've been able to remember to record Monaco, Austria, Britian, and Germany (I wish they'd call it Formula One (or something consistent on the DVR, so I could set it and forget it - record season, be done, but they're all named differently for each race, so I have to remember to record them, and for some reason, even though my DVR is supposed to be capable of looking two weeks out, I can only get the races to show up about 10 days ahead of time). Forgot about the beginning of the season until my dad mentioned it.

I really enjoy just about everything motorsports on TV. From swamp buggies to F1, if it's on wheels (2 or more), I'll sit back and enjoy. I'm really enjoying watching the quality of driving with the Mercedes team. Watching Hamilton come from 20th to 2nd last week was a blast.
