For me it explains how I can be 'blind-sided' by something that wasn't there and now is 'there' and vice versa. Now think about that in our normal everyday lives, changes happen so quickly that we miss most of them because our brains made a snap decision that the change wasn't immediately important to our daily lives and ignored the change.
And that my FRiends can come back to 'Bite us in the Butts' when seconds and minutes count in recognizing situations and events that will affect us, possibly very adversely.

People blind all their life, if they gain vision for the first time can’t immediately interpret what they see.
In a psychological sense it’s why people don’t realize a war is coming, or that Obama is governing as a radical leftist.
I am shocked on nearly a daily basis in the changes to the society around me that it seems nearly no one else even notices.
The changes are so profound over the last few decades that I honestly feel that I am now living in an entirely different country with a handful of people from where I used to live long ago here with me also.
